Is there anything I can do to clean these things up since I have them laying around? Has anyone painted or tried to make them look a little bit better before trowing them back in?

Matt,

Don't know if I've heard of anyone anal enuf to Chrome a driveshaft, but U may want to watch doing too much to it because U could throw off the balance. Don't know if Paint throw it off - U might ask a Driveshaft place, like DynoTech or Corpus Christi Driveshaft.

The trouble w steel is that is will always rust. If U really wanted a good looking D-Shaft, U could always get one of those Alum. ones and polish it. Not that I'm recommending that or anything.

i sandblasted & POR'd mine... hopefully won't mess up the balance on it... there wasn't THAT much rust on it, and i was blasting & doing POR on a bunch of stuff at the same time.

what about doing the VHT paint thats holds up to high heat?

actually, ians got this stuff call Steel It. You paint it on, gives a nice aluminum finish. As long as its brushed evenly, i dont see how it would manage to unbalance either shaft... or at least, it would be so slight, probably wouldnt notice?

I was told it will. That's why I let them finish it for me.
