can i use this???

i have a LB4 code 4.3 (not from a syty) block that i am putting a turbo on using stock syty parts. the motor is going in my 94 s10. i am trying to figure out how to run the oil lines to and from the turbo. i am wanting to keep this build as simple as possible, and i ran across this----> http://store.summitracing.com/defau...earchinresults=false&N=0&target=egnsearch.asp

the part number is trd 1313. my oil filter is mounted on the block, and this mounts between the filter and the block and has 2 ports for an oil cooler, one supply one return. my question is can i use this for the turbo instead of the cooler? i've done searching but could not find any helpful info. like i said i am trying to keep this as simple as possible and want to avoid pulling the oil pan and tapping it if at all possible.

if i can use it, are the 3/8 ports big enough? would 1/2'' be big enough?

if i cannot use it for what i want, stock syty turbo setups tap into the oil system via a fitting on the block just above the oil filter boss correct?

any advice would be appreciated, thank you

Re: can i use this???

that part is for a cooler or a remote oil filter....
all the engines oil goes through it. the turbo would be too much of a restriction
to pass all the engine oil through..

i used 3/16 brake line and compression fitttings (for a total cost of $5.) and took the feed from the oil pressure sender area (with a tee for the sender) near the distributer
i made the drain (5/8 oil cooler hose) to the pan by welding a pipe threaded bung just below where the dipstick is located above the oil level in the pan.

your setup may be different but the same parts could work for you.

Re: can i use this???

It is my under standing that you what
to supply to turbo with oil from one
port and use the other for a return.
If this is your plans it will not work.
The return will have to go back to
the oil pan.
You can supply the turbo with oil
any place the block has a port.
Hope this helps

Re: can i use this???

ok, i was wondering if you just adapted the stock syty oil system. sounds like what you did could easily be done with any 4.3 engine

thanks again for the info, and the pics
