Can a TV cable be too tight?

I checked out my TPS on datamaster and maxed out it was lucky if it broke 90%. Could my TV cable be too tight? Last fall it was able to hit 100, but I've added an ass load of parts. I'm pretty sure my IC is a done deal, the fuse is good, and I just got a new Jabsco IC pump installed. But what I was curious about was how a metal box with some aluminum fins break? Maybe I don't have an absolute grasp on the great mysteries that the little silver box contains. Pandora comes to mind.

I don't think your TV is too tight it might be a stretched throttle cable or a bent pedal. Possibly a thicker floor mat that is not alowing you to get 100%? Get the DM hooked up while the truck is off but keys in ignition. After that go to the TB and turn butterfly all the way open and see what it reads. Then have someone put the pedal to the floor and compare that will give you the % your cable has stretched. New cables can be bought at GM for 30 - 40 bucks I think. HTH

The way I found out on mine was, with the engine off, have someone floor the gas pedal inside. As you are standing in front of the truck, look at the throttle body and see if the arm moves enough to hit the throttle stop. If it doesn't, take your hand and physically finish the rotation while the person inside still holds the throttle. If it stays at WOT when you let go, the cable is stretched. A temporary fix is to put about a 3/8" thick washer under the lower bolt in the mount for the gas pedal fulcrum inside the cab. This will throw the TV cable adjustment out of whack however and you may have to use the Sonnax TV cable corrector to adjust for it. By the time you paid shipping and stuff for the TV cable corrector, you probably could have bought a new throttle cable from GM.
