    anyone in MN area?

Re: anyone in MN area? I live in Eden Prairie. I'd love to get together with some other SyTy owners. Don't look to me for any wrench turning though... i have zero talent in that department :)

    Question on intercooler pumps ...

I had an aftermarket intercooler pump on my Ty, and it decided to start leaking everywhere, so I ordered a replacement. Not knowing the brand of the old one I had to just get what seemed to be the best... I ordered a Johnson CM30P7-1 from Auto Performance Engineering. It seems to be working...

Be wary of ordering from ATR

The good thing is that because of this I ended up getting a great contact on a guy who is getting me custom 10mm wires  Hopefully they will be ready before my exhaust burns through these boots :o

Be wary of ordering from ATR

I ordered a set of Black Beauties for my 93 Ty and even spoke on the phone to the rep to make sure these were EXACTLY what I needed (4 angled boots and 2 straight boots). She assured me they were for my Ty (as listed on their website) and shipped them to me. Of course when I got them they were...

new guy- ty as daily driver?

I drive my 93 Ty as a daily driver, and only had very minor probs (due to incompetent mechanic for tune-up recently). They are a money pit, and always starving for mechanical attention, but like you I dirve a very short distance to work, so no biggie for me. The -25 temps and snow we have seen...

Stupid question, but I have to be sure

Thanks for the help everyone. I knew it was leaking at the seal because you could see the coolant bubbling right out of it. Ordered a new pump, and it got here next day! Should have it in by Tuesday. I'm still having no luck with the detonation problem though, (re: my post in the chipping...

Stupid question, but I have to be sure

I only found a little bit, maybe less than half a quart over the last 2 days. I was assuming that like most other vehicles I have owned that the water pump would be where you described it... below, and on the fron of the block. This pump resides at the top in front of the motor... not attached...

Stupid question, but I have to be sure

Found a little coolant on my garage floor, took it to the local shop to do a pressure test. They poked around and told me that my radiator was fine (wheeew!) but that my water pump was leaking at the seal. They go to point it out to me and it is an electric aftermarket pump... but what they...

Newbie Ty owner needs help ASAP!

I took her to a local garage (Goodyear shop). Yes, the problems only arose AFTER they worked on her. She ran flawlessly prior to that. Could it be just that they did not diconnect the tan line, and the computer is fighting itself to adjust the timing properly?

What shop do you trust in the Twin Cities?

Thanks for the responses. Since I am new here, I don't get the inside joke "shop of Dan" I have no major issues, but some minor ones that I should address quickly before too long. I was lucky to find a Ty in EXCELLENT condition (inside & out). She is a black '93. I know that Ty's need...

What shop do you trust in the Twin Cities?

Locals to Minneapolis/St Paul, I ask you... what performance shops in the area (SW of Minneapolis would be best for me) do you think are the most trustworthy, and know SyTy's inside & out? Thanks for any info!

Newbie Ty owner needs help ASAP!

Thanks for the info. I'm new to the turbo thing, I'm used to V8's naturally aspirated... so what is the tan wire, and why must I tell the technician to disconnect it?

Newbie Ty owner needs help ASAP!

Thanks. I had considered that, but assumed that just "winging it" like that would make matters even worse. Setting the timing back 15 degrees to get back to 0 seemed like an awfully drastic move. So you would keep the stock thermo in it, keep the Pit Bull chip in it, and simply set the timing...

Newbie Ty owner needs help ASAP!

I just purchased a 93 Ty from a guy who took amazing care of it, and made a few minor mods over the last 5 years he owned it. A few winters ago the heater core died, and since he only drove it in the summer, he removed the heater core (to save weight), and left it at that. I just installed a...
