Also have to wait for the concrete to cure prior to epoxy coating.

Minimum I've seen is at least 30 days, and prefferably a fair bit longer.

I'm still debating doing mine, and I've only got 900 sq ft to do.

yeah, we cant do anything to it for 30 days. No sealing/epoxy, cant install the lift (not that its here yet anyway), It basically needs to remain an empty building until Dec 15th. But there is plenty of work to be done between now and then anyway

you'll need to take a torch to the floor and burn off the exposed fiber before doing anything.

Supposedly a friend of a friend has been doing heating/cooling in large commercial warehouses for years and says there are better and cheaper options, so we'll see.

Cheaper probably. Better? Let me know how that floor feels in the middle of January. :) Looks good though, keep the updates coming.

yeah the concrete guys mentioned a couple different ways of removing the fibers, its the least of my worries.

should be nice and warm with the radiant heat beating down on it. Ive never had to insulate a slab before, but apparently thats where most of the heat is lost with this style of heating. From everyone I have talked to, radiant heat from the ceiling is cheaper to install, cheaper to operate, cheaper & easier to maintain and adjusts temperature quicker.

either way, I dont plan on laying down on it much, thats where the joy of lifts comes in

I wish you plenty of luck with that, and hope your experience is better than mine.

My experience with Radiant heat was at work and we removed that system about 6 or 7 years ago(which was in perfect working order when we cut it up) and replaced it with gas forced hot air.

Problem with the radiant heat is that it was very focused. If you were under it (within like 5' of the centerline), you were sweating like you were sitting in a toaster oven. Move 10 feet away and you were freezing. Damned annoying, especially if your job assignment required you to move around any. We were heating a bit more floor space (about 35,000 sq ft), but the ceiling heights were similar (16' to bar joists, 18' to roof). Radiant heat was probably at about 15' off the floor. From that experience, I couldn't recommend it.

I'd say check out some installations with what you're talking about using. Your supplier / installer should be able to take you someplace that has an installation that you can see / feel.

Exterior 99% finished. Still need to do a couple little things, but we're in good shape for the most part.

Installed (5) 8' T12HO lamps to get things started. Will be adding another 2 rows later on.

Had a delivery of shelves that came out of a warehouse :D These should be fun to assemble

:tup::tup::tup:nice, i wish you were closer, i would give you a hand with that pita shelving. remember to be well stocked on beer! Btw, i worked with radiant heat before and it is like the others have said, hot underneath, cold everywhere else, until the shop warms up all the way.

Im not worried about the heat. Its far cheaper and faster to get the building up to a decent temp rather than waiting an hour or more with radiant in the floor, not to mention we'll have 1 if not 2 wood burning stoves in there as well, which will provide most of the heat while working.

The radiant heat is just there to keep things at a constant level at night or if nobody is there to fire up the stove so things dont freeze.

Figured I would throw a couple pics up I randomly took today....

Started to get the lift up last night, got the posts up and anchored, still have to shim one of them slightly, and of course put the cross beam, arms, chains and everything else back on together.

Pretty cool being able to fit the lift, and excavator and my Celica inside and still have tons of room to work in,

The awesome strut compressor I picked up, partially cleaned, once I have more time Ill make it bling bling...

Small pick of some of the other loot I grabbed,

Those are real nice strut compressors, I have used them at my old job and by far the safest I have used yet.
One thing I am not sure if you have be told or not that is a good idea, get the strut all set up in the compressor then where the lower finger touchs the spring put a vice grip on the spring. If you look at it it will make sense:lol:

Basically when you start to compress the spring its going to want to "screw" out of the machine and possibly become deadly so if you put the vice grip on it would stop against that finger on the machine. If the rubber grips are worn off the little fingers this will happen more often.

It happened at my work once in a training class:oops: good thing I wasn't there that day:D

Defiantly a nice shop can't wait till I can have something like that!
