Keyless Entry for a SY???

sly dvl

Ya, it's got a Turbo
Correct me if I'm wrong, but Syclone's didn't come with factory keyless entry, did they?

Has anyone tried installing a keyless unit from a Ty into a Sy? I'm sure it's possible since it's only wires. I'm just curious how much cutting and splicing one has to do, or is it pretty plug & play? The wiring harness' can't be that different between a Sy & a Ty for the P/L system.

Feedback?

Tried the search thing. Lots of members have asked the same question I'm asking but no one has actually stated whether or not they've done the transformation and to what level of success or aggravation.

Sounds like it would be just as easy (or easier) to install an aftermarket keyless system w/ alarm & starter kill for added security.

Re: Keyless Entry for a SY???

probably easier to just do an aftermarket system. Usually better range and most are 5-7 wires tops.
Just did a keyless entry/remote start in my Sy and it took like 45 minutes.

Yep thats what wade decided if you get a older code alarm piece like a rke series the factory ty remotes can be used:tup:

Now there's something I didn't know. Wouldn't have thought any of the aftermarket unit would have been compatible with factory remotes.
I have some GM remotes (1999 - 2001ish). Wonder how one could find out if any of the aftermarket units would work with these?

I'm probably making this a lot more complicated than it needs to be though :banghead:
