Re: Syclone #136

nice pics, kinda wondering why you haven'r reclocked the turbo? and why did you choose to use 2 O2 sensors?

Re: Syclone #136

i reclocked the turbo a couple times, and this seems to be the easiest, shortest way to the IC

i used 2 O2s just so i can compare the 2.

and i used the Fel-pro rubber gaskets on the V-covers (blue). they were a bitch to put on.

Re: Syclone #136

so damn close to running....

first off, BIG THANKS to Pat (91blazins10) for helping me.

bad grounds screwed me tonight. When i relocated the battery to the bed, i used the stock ground cables (that ran from the battery to the head) and ran it from the battery to the frame. but i had no frame to engine ground. so the small cab ground strap was smoking. so we ran a wire from the engine to the frame, but the wire was too lite, and the O2 sensors started heating, cause the battery was grounding through the wideband box to the cab...

but after finding it was 180 out, it cranked fine. i'll fixed the grounds tomorrow, and it should fire fine.

i took a day vaca today, and busted my butt to finish it. still need to put the fender on, and hang the exhaust.

Re: Syclone #136

Yea get some heavy gauge wire and run a ground from the battery to the frame, and run a ground from the frame to the head, and one from the frame to the body, Replace that thin ground strap you have running from the head to the firewall to a thicker gauge and add another ground to firewall from the pass side head, and I think you will be OK

I still the think the timing is off, but fix all those grounds first and go from there

thats cheating if its not the first time attempting to start it. Sounds decent though. You still expecting to drive that to detroit?

Re: Syclone #136

wideband gauge is working, i can datalog with Tunerpro.

now the power steering pump is puking all over the place.

so tonight i'll let it cool down and disconnect everything. tomorrow i'll remove it and replace with a new one.

1 more day lost.

Re: Syclone #136

the trans-cooler fan works, but now the WB gauge is out. i'm getting a new EGR valve tomorrow to hopefully settle my idle. and i washed it for the first time in 10 months

Re: Syclone #136

wideband works, EGR works. i went out for a drive, and apparently my e-fan never kicked on, and the coolant in the rad boiled before the thermo could open. As i was checking the trans fluid, the coolant reservoir exploded in my face.

2 steps forward, 1 step back. and i just detailed the engine bay this morning. now it and everything in a 10ft radius of my truck is covered in boiling coolant.

i dont know if my fan is wired wrong ( i rewired it same as last summer), or maybe it blew a fuse in the fan controller...

Re: Syclone #136

what fan controller are you using? I had one that stopped working on me...ended up that the temp sensor became brittle and snapped the connection inside of it. Just hard wire a switch/relay so you can manually turn the fans on if it fails.

Filter that was on it. Held back power on the top end.

it just fit in the space. actually rubbed the trans fittings.

Re: Syclone #136

Do you have enough room for that cobra elbow? If so, I say cobra elbow --->adapter tube ---> cone style filter of your choice. I have been running one for eight year now with no problems...

Stock turbo.

PTE stealth.

Since that air filter limited power, I wouldn't use it you plan to run high boost often. If it's just going to be a *cruiser* who cares about being a few tenths quicker at the track or on the street...

Another option is to bypass the radiator trans cooler. Probably won't have to trim it with the AN hardware gone.

my dad's bringing a 4" stainless elbow home from work tomorrow, gonna put a K&N cone pointed down.

i've run with no filter, and with the current setup. and its is a driver-seat noticeable power difference when under boost.
