Hay just wondering if anybody has a good way or idea to pull the TV valve assembly out of the front pump.
Mind you I'm am on my back, the transmission is still in the car.I have tried a magnet.Hammer... I'm thinking of epoxy or JW weld a rod to the bottom. to have something to grab on to.Its a 575.valve and is a pain in the ass to get in and out.
Thanks in advance.

It should just pop down, once you remove the snap rig unless its jamned. I had a lot hard time getting it back up and getting the snap ring into the right groove.

Yea that's what usually happens. It pops down after you remove the snap ring, but it's a huge valve and its fussy.Pissing me orff.

Their might be other ways, but this should work...

If the snap ring is off. put the oil cover on and fill the tranmission up with oil. Started the engine and it should pop down once you put it in reverse. You will know that its has been push down because the truck won't move while in reverse.

The valve body is out on the counter. But I wonder if i stick the filter back on and fill the pan if that would work.....

Most likely not. Boost pressure is regulated by the throttle valve in the valvebody. Don't know what kinda damage could be done with nothing in place.
Put a socket on the end of an extension that is a little smaller than the opening. Push it up and let it spring down several times. May pop out doing that.

Thanks for all your replies.
Had some issues with the pressure. It would go @ 1000rpm 90 psi at min TV to 250 Psi at 80% TV,then 90 Psi at 100% TV. So needless to say the trans was smoking all kinds of crap.I'm testing to see if it was the TV plunger 1st.It would push in too far then bleed pressure around it. maybe that's it maybe it's not.well see when it get it back together. If its not then I'll pull the snap ring and make sure all the valves are in correctly in the pump....
thanks D Cheatham

Are you really talking about a snap ring or a roll pin? I don't ever remember seeing a snap ring in a valve body.

I think he's referring to the BOOST valve in the pump.
When he said he had the valvebody on the bench it kinda narrowed it down.
Now there is a roll pin in the valvebody that only sticks out like 1/8" an it keeps the TV balance valve in place. THAT is the one that usually gets stuck and you have hard late shifts no matter what. IF you can get that out, you need a little booster spring on it or the transgo "no-stick" TV assembly.

Re: T V valve Removal in Car....Transmission

Working on it today... I hope to find something obvious wrong the pressure still drops at WOT. I'll probably have to investigate further and remove the TV Boost valve assembly.I'll try to get it to spin around in the bore then maybe it will pop down. I don't know well see. Ill keep ya posted I should get a stick weld gun.:)

Re: T V valve Removal in Car....Transmission

Trans works sweet. 285 psi now WOT freed some sticky valve train and replaced the TV sleeve and plunger.
Seemed to do the trick so far just going to put some lube guard in it. Hope it last awhile with me beating the shit outta that 3800 stall.
