future TY buyers beware! NOW WITH VIN

So there is a local 93 black TY for sale, my buddy calls and tells me where it is sitting. I go straight there when i get the call, sure enough there it is. So we pull over to take a closer look. I have on my NATSX T-shirt so i cant even act like i dont know what it is, but thats ok i thought. I ask a little bit about the truck, clean title, almost completely stock, minus air filter and newer tires, 6x,xxx miles, starts up no smoke, idle is nice, it had a newer exhaust too, rust on rear quarter and tailgate and fenders but repairable. I ask him what he is asking and he said 6500, decent i thought. I ask him how it drove, straight? vibrations? shift problems? over boost? blah blah blah.

What happened next kinda took me by surprise, but lets rewind for some details. When i got the call aboout it sitting out for sale i was out with my brother picking up some things for my new pup and things in my 85 f250 flatbed turbo diesel. Camo shorts and again my natsX t shirt, so maybe i didnt look like a serious buyer. It was a Sunday afternoon, sunny and warm out.

Back to the story, i ask him if we could take it down the street and back to see just how it does drive, to which i got the response, "i dont have it sitting out here for every punk to JOY RIDE it!"

Ok, i said. HE then ask me ehat i was offering for the truck, i told him i wouldnt offer him anything for the truck with out taking it out fro a drive, i work for 4 car dealers and we wouldnt even think about asking for a buy bid with out the customer driving the car, it actually helps build value if they have driven it and like it. I told him by WE, i meant him and I not me and my brother drive the truck, and i didnt even care if it was him that drove and i rode.

Still he kept saying this JOY Ride That Joy Ride, blah blah these trucks are rare and everyone just wants a ride. So i told him that i would go home, and get my SY, JOY RIDE it all the back to his house, which is 45 mins away so that i would have my JOY RIDE fix before gettting a test drive in his TY. Then he changes his attitude. Still and ass munch for the most part but takes me for a short ride, truck was solid, shifted nice, interior was very very nice, so when we get back he said, so what do you offer me now, I ask how firm the 6500 was and that i would carfax it at work and be back to take a few pics to post on syty even if i didnt decide it was something i wanted. HE said that if didnt sell it for the 6500 by the end of the summer he would just take a torch and cut it in half behind the doors and sell the parts, the folling is a quote, "the truck has a clean title, that and the vin tag alone i could sell in a hurry for a few grand"  "the stock wheels are worth a grand on ebay" clear coat needs refinished at least. "hell the front axles cost almost a grand" so at this point i had enough of the BS and left.

The next day after work i drove the SY back to his house to take some pics and to get the VIN #, He wouldnt shut up about my truck long enough to try to sell me his, he said a kid had offered him 5grand that day and he told him it wasnt chrimas in july and started back in the whole i'll cut it up and sell the vin, I told him thanks for opening the truck up for the pics and started to leave,

He said, take me ride in that thing, to which i replied, every punk wants me to give them a ride or watch me boost launch this thing, and i drove away.

I will post the vin when i get my camera back from my brother, just giving you guys a heads up in case the vin does make it out into the blackmarket world for future reference.

Re: future TY buyers beware!

Definitely post that vin.

Sad to say but there are ass hat owners of every make and model out there.
We just like to think that other SyTy owners would give us a tad bit more respect.

Towards the end of that interaction I think you were being too nice... lol

I was being nice only because i was still debating on buying the truck, it was nice aside from the rust. But ass hat he was!

yours is about 40k then, turbo is worth 2 grand, paint is worth 20 grand, your axles are a grand. you should cut yours up. :(

tell him you'll bring your torch, and help him chop it up, see what his expression is. lol

Wow, that guy is more stuck up than the SVO Mustang guys. They'll hang you out to dry for selling or parting out one of their little turbo 4 bangers, even if it's not fixable. :D

Re: future TY buyers beware!

Well, in his defense, there are alot of dreamers out there that wanna free ride with NO intent to buy and drive a seller up the wall. At least he was a straight shooter and not to bash you, there is always 2 sides to a story. Maybe someone had just left before you got there sending his blood pressure up to 180/125. If you are serious, show up with cash and negotiate (although I doubt you'll get the truck now with your dramatic exit). I am sure the guy is not too intent on chopping it up but then again, he could probably get $6500 in parts alone out of it. Those rear corners add up to $900 if they are nice.....

In HIS DEFENSE? i got the same attitude 2 days in a row! it was an hour and a half round trip just to get the pics and see it again, when he started in on the whole its not christmas in july. I didnt leave mad, just with a smartass remark, one that he had given me the day before, he wasnt interested in buying my truck like i was his, why did i need to give him a ride? I did note in the first post that i may not have looked like a serious buyer in my flatbed ford, But im not a PUNK KID, as he was trying to refer me as.

The only reason i even let this interaction be known is so that you guys would have a heads up in the future if the vin does get sold if it gets parted. Maybe next time i'll just keep the info to myself.

So is this a real Ty or not? I don't like the idea of him talking about selling the vin plate. Is that even legal? Will be very interesting checking into this vin and seeing what matches and what does not.

another pitbull. i have been looking for a puppy for a couple of months, tried several pit rescues around these parts and as far away as memphis TN, but they dont want to place puppies is what i am finding out. I didnt want to go the breeder route but ended up doing it anyway, here is a link to his grandfather and great grandfather blue rhino and odsx , grand mother and the mom , miss independence the dad i dont have a link to yet but can be seen in the header, bottom left of the following link he is blue with a white chest and stripe on face, i hope he doesnt get as big as they are, both mom and dad are both under 60lbs so we will have to wait and see. He is a blue nose, white coat with champaign spots. He will be going in to get his ears cropped in the next week or so, 10 weeks old 15lbs.

No its not legal! you could steal a ty, replace the vin with a guys help like this and have no problems selling it as his TY which was actually parted out. Thats why i brought it up.
