hurt the motor today

First time at the track with the truck. RPM T60-1 kit, 3" downpipe, 3" exhaust, 3bar map, 50lb injectors, got a chip from RPM that came from canada (campbell?), manual boost controller set for 17lbs. 45psi of fuel pressure, billet regulator, walbro 255 pump, RPM A2A, TPIS 58mm TB, Greddy BOV, ProTorque 2800 stall.

I have boost, fuel pressur, and innovative XD1 gauges. Boost was holding steady, fuel pressure never dropped. I had problems building boost at the line, couldn't make more then 3-4 lbs flooring the truck while holding the brakes. 2.1 60', beginning of 3rd gear heard a funny sound, like very soft and quiet popping, boost gauge dropped to 10lbs and i let off. coasted to 13.7 @ 92, truck blowing blue smoke and shut off at the end. Its now hard to start, feels like its missing, and blowing blue smoke. I drove it from atco home, ~90 miles or so without any other problems with cruise set on 65.

No overheating, got oil pressure, guess I burned a piston? What are my options now as far as bottom end goes? I never had luck with having motors buld (LT1s), what would be the best thing to do? I am aiming at mid-low 12s, maybe hit 11s?

damn you!

I told you who to take it too. If you want good reliable rebuild.

Stock Crank, 4bolt splayed mains, Eagle H-Beam Rods, JE Pistons, Bolt on set of stock Vortec Heads while your at it.

My opinion.

damn atco that's like ten minutes from my house.. could of ran datamaster on it for you to maybe help figure out what's going on but blue smoke would make me think it's time for a rebuild

First off check the compression. If its low anywhere thatll tell you right there what your problem is and where its at.

You might have got lucky. So do this first. Then report back with the numbers. If it was popping then you might have broke a piston. You should be able to tell even at startup if there's s broken ring land, because it will tap/tick.

I didn't see any mention of your fuel octane used for racing, or any scan tool and Knock Retard readings. If you want to avoid future motor failures I would read this article: http://www.powertuneplus.com/syclone/howto_stock13s.shtm

I also have a page or two on the site with recommended parts combinations, depending on your skill, budget, and goals.

I ran on a full tank of 93 pump gas, no logging though..I didnt think I needed a tune that bad, I saw AFR in 11.5 range on the wideband.

My truck has been making a "tick" sound since I've got it, I think coming from injectors? :D As far as getting lucky, I doubt it...Its pushing the PCV valve out of valve cover when I drive it, and theres oil splashes on the fender well :(

Step away from the truck and sell it before you go any farther.

well let me refraze that, I have a chip in the truck for the mods that I've gotten from Mike @ RPM, set for the turbo/injectors and 17PSI boost. The chip came to me from Canada, so I assume Campbell? I didnt think the tune could be that far off that I would need to be worried about it without cranking the boost up.

No datalogger and 17psi on Pump gas is a recipe for a broken motor.

x50.

It wouldn't matter who you got a chip from... if you don't watch knock data while you're running it, I can almost guarantee a broken motor.

I'll throw this out there as well... any chip that you get that didn't require at least 10 runs of scan tool data to get it programmed is of questionable value. There isn't *anybody* out there that's that good at guessing.

Furthermore, I'd say that 80% of the people who are looking to put a chip in, have a truck with moderate to major issues already. Adding more boost and timing to a broken vehicle = dead motor.

I'm really quite surprised that there are still vendors who will even sell a chip this way, because it's gonna be *waaaay* more trouble than it's worth.

I called 3 times, went over what I wanted, was told that you'll call me back with the price, and never heard since.
