Same old Q

I have 285/35/18 rears and need to match the front. Are 255/40/18 the right match? I know REPOST, use the search, I tried there is alot of threads with tire sizes in it.

either one, if one matches the other should. circumference is a function of the radius.

What matters, if you want to be technical, is so-called rolling radius. The distance from axle center to the pavement. This takes into account air pressure, tire deflection and everything. Should be within 2%, hopefully less. Not sure where that number comes from, might be a leftover from big trucks with their dual drive rear axles. I would imagine we would want less. I'd bet the info is buried at Borg-Warner somewhere. :D
