Hole/Crack in blower housing - how to fix this!?

Someone leaned on something and cracked the $&^!@ blower housing on my Sy. I'm assuming this thing is pressurized when the heater or AC is on so I want to fix it properly. Does anyone know what the best way to fix this would be? I'm thinking some kind of plastic or fiberglass epoxy repair kit? Any help would be appreciated.

small piece of plastic a little larger than the hole and some epoxy... a small piece of metal will work too and may be easier to get a hold of

the proper way would be to replace it, but one of those epoxy kits w/ the metal screen would work fine

Stab it and steer it

I'd have to look at my truck but did something break from the hole? Where's the piece? Virtually no pressure here so an epoxy patch as mentioned should work fine.

No, that solonoid/switch thing has two screws that threaded into the blower housing. Someone (not me) leaned on it and it cracked a hole in the housing. I guess I'll go down to Kragen tomorrow and look for some kind of plastic repair kit. Once it's patched up, I'll cover it with something so it doesn't look like ass. Thanks for the help.

I'd just hit a junk yard. That part is not sy/ty specific and can be found in any 1st gen S10 that had A/C.

I have the A/C box off of my syclone if you want (for free) a replacement box. (I got rid of my a/c) that way it doesn't look like you tried to fix the box at all. LMK I could roll out tonight to deliver it to you in my sy, I need to put break in miles on it anyways.....LMK

How hard is it to replace that cover? It looks like there is glue and gaskets involved. If yours is in good shape, yeah, I'll take it. Let me know, thanks man.

Well for mine it was sealed with a dry foam, the stuff that looks like a thin spunge. (I have tailgate weatherstripping that would work the same. It's in good shape, needs to be cleaned a little to fit in with your super clean truck. it worked when I drove the truck with a/c...and as for how hard it is to replace? well I had it out pretty quick...but I had the engine out. so if you have good tools it shouldn't be too hard. it's worth it for now having a fiberglass repair on yours that is broken right now....

I took a closer look at it. As long as I don't have to open up the AC lines to switch it out, I'll go that route. I have an entire roll of that double-sided insulated foam tape stuff so that should work. I can pay you to ship it if you want, let me know.

I don't know if you can do it without evacuating the refrigerent.....but I could be wrong. It isn't a problem to drive it over there, you are only 20-30 miles away from me anyways. if you really want to shoot me some dollars for gas that's fine, but I'll gladly do it for free, if it helps you out...

Let me try to pull the old cover off first. If I have to evacuate the system, I'm going to just patch the hole. If I decide to swap it out, I'll let you know. Thanks for the help guys.

I'm pretty sure you can pull the cover without evacuating the system. That cover actaully splits right where the lines enter..

Yep, all you have to do is split the case. That's how I got mine out of my truck when I decided to go ACless.

Sean - thanks a ton for letting me have your blower motor cover/housing. I just got done working on the bitch at 2:45am...had to pull the heater core out and a ton of other stuff, but I got it done. I never want to do anything like that again, that sucked.
