$1600 is not a bad price I guess. I'll have to find out the weight savings on Monday.

Id like to see some actual numbers , full tank , no driver . I read the other thread back when it was new , but dont recall anyone posting more than hopes .

After my dustan rear coilover ladder bar setup is welded in , I will be visiting a weigh station . I know a few more things i can do to lighten the load , but i want to see where Im at now .

Here's what they told me a little while back when I inquired about them....

Economy approx. 170-190
Standard-215-230
Deluxe-close to same as steel.
We can lighten up the bed if you wanted.

B & G Fiberglass

Hope this helps....

The bed only weighs 198 without the tailgate . Thats a lot of moola for saving 20 something pounds .

Unless you have a rusted out bed or don't want to have to deal with a rusted out bed, it sounds like it is going to weigh MORE than a stock steel bed once you install the cladding to me...

"198 pound bed. Yes, the weight of the saw horses was tared..."

I weighed my bed several years ago when Pete H. was going to try and get a carbon fiber beds made and needed to know what the weight savings would be (nothing ever materialized). The 198 pounds is JUST for the bed and cladding. The tail gate adds another 32.5 pounds.

My experience with fiberglass parts has been that they aren't much lighter than steel unless they are made crazy thin like my cowl hood before paint:

"My new VFN fiberglass cowl hood with pin holes in it. No wonder it weights half the weight of my stock hood. Should have bought a Goodmark instead :(.."

Re: Who has the litest truck and...

Good post and good info.....thanks.. I've delt with fiberglass and plastic body parts on other projects which ultimately let to my decision on sticking with my steel on the Syclone.

Re: Who has the litest truck and...

I know Marty and I were talking with a bed company a while back ( I think it was B&G) and they said they could get that weight down nicely. I think it would be worth revisiting.

Are you able to break it down part by part for each ones individual weight savings? I think you are off to a damn good start but not sure that stuff will be 500-600lbs. Have you looked inside your dash and get rid of any of that? You'd be surprised how much junk is in there.

Also, for the wipers, what did you do to fill the holes in the cowl?

Lastly, for those talking about the bed. Might want to keep some of that weight on the back of a syclone. I know my buddies who have tried fiberglass hatch's on their fox bodies all have gone back to stock setups because they ended up fighting traction problems because of lack of weight over the rear... just food for thought.

Oh yeah the ABS was deleted of course.

The wiper holes are still there. I guess I could close them up if I really wanted to. I'll just have to keep looking for stuff to remove as I go.

I cannot recall how much each of the items weight. Would be good info to know.

Re: Who has the lightest truck and...

You say RPM coil over. Is that a front kit or all around? If only the front what did you do for the rear? I was shocked at how much less the Flex a Forms weighed than a stock leaf... a stock one nearly knocked me on my rear, a Flex a Form i can hold 2 with one hand.

This is a topic that really interest me if you can't tell :)

Edit:: I bought a stock cowl off ebay for $15 that had the holes filled in... looks so much better than leaving them empy. Check that out, its fiberglass so not like you are adding any real weight.

Re: Who has the lightest truck and...

Just the front RPM coils. Must of dropped at least 75lbs.

The flexaform are about 16lbs together vs. 98 lbs on the stock typhoon leafs. I have not done this yet on the syclone. I imagine they weight about 75lbs.

How much patience do you have?

You deleted AC/heating and I assume other accessories that you do not need. That means you have a bunch of worthless wires within your wiring harness.

Go through there and pick out the ones you don't need. Them wiring harness are damn heavy.

I will keep posing more as I think of them.

What wheels are you running?

I just took another peak under the truck. I'm going to remove the spare tire carrier and cut up the bumper supports on front and back. Then I will remove the 5lbs. gas support frame. I guess the emergency/parking brake set-up is no longer needed as well. Everything is pretty much gone in the engine compartment.

The wheels are stock.
