Syclone at Atlantic City Car Sow Auction....

Syclone #1721

I LOVE 4UM SUPERSTARS
so I was at the A.C. Car show this past weekend and they have an auction there every year. Its like a mini Barret-Jackson. Anyway, to my suprise, a Syclone rolls up with 8k on it. The paint looked beat and the cladding very dried out. Looks like it stays outside all the time. Heres the kicker, this thing gets bidded up to $24,500 and the guy didnt take it. I was like WTF?...maybe theres hope for the value of these things after all.

What right does the people that are bidding have, when they bid on a vehicle and not take it. Wouldnt that throw up some kind of signs of false play. He was probably bidding high for the owner who might be is best friend or brother in law or cousin. You understand what i mean, right??

All it means is that the dude had a reserve. It doesn't really mean that he would not have taken the money. There are large fees to pay too. He was probably trying to cover that. :)

Re: Syclone at Atlantic City Car Sow Auction....

I still think auctions are the way to go because:

1. They've become popular thanks to the B-J coverage on Speed
2. You have people there who know SyTys as rare performance vehicles but have no clue as to what the market is. They may have attended the auction without the intention of buying a particular vehicle, then they see the Sy or Ty and bidding gets going.
3. They are often drunk and so bidding can go beyond what's rational.
4. There's no tire-kickers, test pilots, etc. They see it, they buy it, they take it home.
