4 bolt main caps

i'm no homo
as far as the different brands of 4 bolt cap for the 4 bolt conversion, is there any difference? i know where some caps for a sbc with 350 journals are from a friend, he has never installed them and he bought them new, and he will sell them to me for 25 bucks. there are three caps but they are all 4 bolt caps and i know we need two 4 bolt and one 2 bolt. so i guess my question is, will the center two work and and me just buy the 2 bolt from a vendor or is it even really necessary to have the front two bolt out of billet. just courious, i really do not want to throw 25 bucks away. not much but it could go towards something that i actually need.

i can buy brand new 4 bolt main caps made in China for around $25, so yes there is a difference. Buy the Pro Gram ones.... not to mention they work with the factory dipstick, whereas the others require machining and grinding for the dipstick clearance.

yeah i guess your right. i was just trying to save a buck or two.......guess there are other places for that mind set. it will just take me longer to get the stuff thats all.

Yeah I have learned in the past to just wait until you have the funds to get what you really need. I have been burned I don't know how many times because I told myself well it should be good enough.

what makes the main caps on ebay different that the pro gram ones? other than being machined for dip stick clearance? is there a difference in material, process, name brand? ok one of those was a dead giveaway. but really, if it is billet steel it should be better than stock right? just thoughts thats all
