I want to remove the pass' side tube and axel while leaving the front diff' in place. i've read the ty manual and it shows a retaining clip holding the axel. it says nothing about removing it. says to use a slide hammer. does the force of the hamer spring the clip allowing the axel to be removed, stays in place and springs back in place when reinstalled. or am i missing something?
I need the diff' in place to check clearance on a new oil pan and the oil cooler fittings.
THANKS

Yeah the clip will just compress in the grove in the axle and come out with it.

You will thank me later if you buy a new clip when you reinstall.

YES..get the new clip...I pulled the front diff out 3 times and replaced all 3 times. It seems to round the edges off when you pull the axle out.

I decieded just to pull the whole unit, i couldn't get the steering arm off so i took the box loose, took stabilizer shock off, took ds tie rod end off, and steering shaft loose, shoved it forward, rotated the back up and the front down and it just cleared enough to let it fall out
