Proof I actually worked on my truck

Well after a long time I am finally trying to put my sy back together. Finally got the engine back in yesterday. The bad part is that was the easy part

Well long story short, I pulled the trans out years ago when I started to loose 4th gear under boost. Well I had that rebuilt and while that was apart I bought a ton of parts from Nolan. I put the trans back in and while I had a valve cover off to install the new one I noticed some metal shavings. So out came the engine, I tore it down completely and noticed some wear on the bearings. Well I took the engine to the machine shop and the heads were not cut enough for the valve springs and there was a sharp edge on the head which was wearing away.

So I had him fix up the heads and assemble the short block and I did the rest. I also put on a Billet Specialties Tru Trac Setup on which looks just plain awesome.

Well the engine has been sitting at my work waiting for me to put it in so I can remake and finish a bunch of parts.

I finally had a chance to put it in this weekend, I was dreading dealing with the motor mounts since everyone says they have a hard time going from poly to solid. That engine went in in about 5 minutes I was soo happy

Now all that needs to be done is
Make all new Oil Lines
Make all new Trans lines
Make all new Power Steering Lines
Mount new Oil Filter
Mount new Power Steering Reservoir
Mount Aux Trans Cooler
Somehow make a Lower Radiator Hose

Remake I/C to turbo Tube
Smash the Hell out of the body to fit new Downpipe

Hey at Least its for a good 'cause its 3.5"

Basically I got the engine back in and now I will be able to get it to my work and put it up on the hoist and start finishing this stuff up.

So look at the pics in my sig for the latest pics, there is a lot left to do put it will get done one of these days.
Sorry for the crappy pics its my cell camera.

Oh, also if any one would like some Billet specialties products or Canton Racing let me know as I am a dealer for them so I can get good prices for everyone.

The Tru Trac would be far better on a twin turbo setup as lower rad hose is nonexistent with the crossover in the way, and the adaptor for the block from canton should be angled more when installed or there is a small tab on top of the front diff that can be ground off to aid in clearance its not touching but it is very close. Not sure if the diff moves too much but I don't want to take any chances. Wish I would have seen that tab before putting engine in but I will find a way to make everything ok without removing it.

Well I hope you all enjoyed my typing

I got pics
icon_biggrin.gif
they are on my webshots page, link in my signature.
I need more pics but the truck is absolutly nasty looking right now, its been sitting outside way to long with just a cover on it. Actually kind of glad I took pics with the cell cam otherwise you could see how bad some things look.

Thanks for the compliment your truck is very nice and something I plan on doing to my so gt someday

Truck looks real good from the pics I see on your page.
I feel your pain on the dirty thing...I can't park my truck in the garage(that is when it is together and actually running) cause my parents use it to store stuff....lol
Thanks for the compliment btw, I really appreciate it.

No clearance issues with the crossover, I think I have a couple pics off it on the engine stand so you should be able to see it more clearly. There is actually a decent amount of clearance. The thing that sucks is I have a crank trigger that I wanted to use and can't because that interfers with everything so I have to go back to the drawing board to get the ls1 coils working.

Well I have all the parts the Nolan used on his ty, and it would have worked if I keep the stock brackets but everyone has those so I had to do something different.

Basically I am going to get it running on the stock dist and get everything tuned so its running good and maybe by then protosy will have all the parts made up for using the dist as the trigger and cam sensor.

I would like to do it all at once but I've got a lot of variables that if one thing goes wrong I may not figure it out right away because I would be checking other things. You know the old Ed Hess saying do one thing at a time

Re: Proof I actually worked on my truck

Well its called the Tru Trac from Billet Specialties and its very nice!

Marty is using it on his Syborg but he has the A/C version.

I really like this setup compared to others for a couple reasons, First instead of using spacers and super long studs they use a short stud and a spacer nut. Basically its a chunk of solid metal with threads instead of a thin piece of tubing.
It comes with a remote style power steering pump which I think looks a lot cleaner than a stock pump with a fancy pulley.

Only thing I did not like was that it comes with a powermaster alt, I gave it to my dad who took all the junk parts out of it and put some good ones in and made it 140 amp.

If anyone is interested go to there website
www.billetspecialites.com and look it up, they also have the instructions on the site so you can see how it goes together. I was defiantly impressed by it but I have a feeling it does draw some power since the pulleys are heavier than stock.

Also they do make it in a anodized black now.

Bringing back my old post
icon_biggrin.gif

Started working on the truck again tonite, got the boss to come over with the hydrualic hose crimper and we made up all the engine/trans/ powersteering lines.
I need to get some different fittings yet to finish up
icon_frown.gif
but boy has it gone a very long way in the 3 hrs of work we did tonite.

The goal is to have the engine start tomorrow, not exactly sure if thats going to happen because of how much I have to do but I will be very close at the least.

I plan on bringing the camera with tomorrow to start documenting this stuff

Re: Proof I actually worked on my truck

Well I wasn't able to get any pics mainly 'cause I was just working on the damn thing too much
icon_biggrin.gif

After 12 hours it would have been nice to hear it fire up but the only thing I didn't think of was the chip
icon_frown.gif

I have a burnt chip in there but I don't know why but there is no file on it, computer shows everything is fine sensor wise but the injectors won't fire. Now I have to drag out the chip burner etc and try to relearn how to use it
icon_frown.gif

What do people recommend as far as the newer style of on the fly burners etc? I have not paid attention to all that stuff mainly cause it hasnt ran.
I see posts about the ostrich and tuner pro rt or something like that? Is that what most guys are using now a days?

Thanks for the help, might have pics tonight.
