Does any body know if the S10 Blazer 4x4 and theTyphoon have an Differances in the clearances. front prop shaft, transmission crossmember, front diff ect. Im resarching Headers and motor mounts to install a LT1 V8 in the Phoon. There are kits for the Blazers and S10 4x4 just not sure on the tolarances. Please dont hate for the swap!!! The motor was free and the Typhoon has a missing engine. After i get it in there and running good i intend to turbocharge it!!

its all the same... get motor mounts and a mini sledge for the pass side firewall.

Body/frame is same. Only minor suspension torsion bar differences (rate) and front diff axle tube (pass side).

In fact I have a 4x4 frame under my ty now, as the original one was bent many years ago.

You do not need to sledge hammer the firewall. Most carb/ tradition v8 swaps don't need it and with the LT1 being the opti spark on the front of the engine you don't have distributor clearence issues.

And you need standard 2.8 frame mounts and 4x4 swap mounts. ( make sure they are for the gen 1&2 motors and not the LSX motors.)

As for headers they are the same and when you find some nice one let me know. I am running low flow camaro manifolds that were ported and such but are still restricting the engine.

Hope this helps

I did a LT1 Swap into a 2wd S10 many years ago. Back when JTR said that it was "not a good Idea" and 99% of LT1 projects that get started never get finished.

The guy put 150,000mi on it! A/C worked ... everything. They are a very durable engine. I think it went 13.60's with a 3:08 Gear and got about 4mpg better than the 4.3L!
.
I drilled and tapped the stock block so I could use old SBC style engine mounts. I used Solid mounts in it with No vibration issues or problems. I also raised the engine up by using plate steel on the frame. There's differences in the 2wd Frame Vs 4wd frame.

I notched the front of the frame and boxed it in where the A/C compressor go's. I remember notching the frame for both of the stock cast LT1 exhaust manifolds too.

Other than some wiring snafu's it went real well. He drove the heck out of it!
It's a tight fit but well worth the effort!
