non syty tuning ???'s

My brother-in-law has a procharged 96 mod motor mustang, he paid a local mustang specialist to tune it with a hand held tuner on the dyno. I drove the thing, afr heads, comp cams, 8psi....maybe a mid 13-high 12 with slicks..I am not impressed. He has asked me to look into some of the moates hardware and maybe tuner pro to make the thing actually run right.

So, the questions "does anyone have any experience with the excalibrator?" AND "Can anyone lead me toward Ford friendly rt tuning software and hardware?"

Experienced responses will be greatly appreciated.
thanks

I'm guessing you've already seen the xdfs on the tunerpro site, so I don't need to tell you about that. They don't appear to be very complete. The moates FORDEMU will allow you to connect the ostrich to the EEC-V

Might look at EEC Editor, as well. There's also TwEECer, but it's a more expensive affair.
TwEECer has a pretty big following, however, and support forums, etc.

Here's a wacky idea... put a '749 in it.

Our ECMs are a breeze to tune compared the some of the EEC stuff....

Be leery of Tweecer though..... Mike Glover has lots of unanwsered issues as to the "hit and miss" of different ecm's. Been F'ing around with a 92' LX for year now and the owner is a friend and I make him deal with the contact, fourm, phone calls, what to attempt next etc. with all the problems he / we have had. I tried to tell him that friends don't let friends drive Fords but I guess I'm gonna just have to shoot him and put him out of my misery....... your results may vary depending on ecm, year, luck, Murphy's Law and what side of the bed you got up on :2cents: ?

believe it or not that was my first suggestion (749.) Am I correct in thinking someone has used much of the ford ignition stuff with the 749? The other idea was megasquirt. I looked at some of the ford tunerpro and twEEcer stuff and was not impressed with the def. files at all. Looking at what the "modular tuners" did I must say I am not impressed either, $60 bucks an hour for a dyno tune that is super rich "for safety" and the dyno graph looks like a cheesy beatline pinstripe from the late 80's. I guess the code 59 stuff has spoiled me but the EEC-V stuff looks way too broad on fueling and primitive to say the least when it comes to overall adjustability.
