door windows

I'm in the process of putting my ty back together after paint and I am having trouble with the windows in the doors. I have installed new window guides and the window channels in the doors. The glass seems to twist when going up or down and jumps off the track. Is there something I am not doing right? The channels I bought from LMC if that makes a differance. Thanks, Danny

Re: door windows

The guides are not seating in the channels. Check alignment of the channels and make sure the guides are snapped in place.

There are plastic clips that go on the windows, inside that track. Did you reinstall/reuse those? I imagine that is your problem.

Re: door windows

Did you soak the guides in HOT water before snapping them in the glass? If not, they will crack if you don't. My write up here may help you out.

I have new guides, lubed the trackes, i am almost to the point of believing its something to do with the roller on the end of the arm that attaches to the motor.

at least its only one window.

Re: door windows

Let me know what you figure out. I'm wrestling with that problem today, in fact. Just popped in here looking for a solution.

In my case, the rear retainer pops out and the front edge of the glass takes a nose dive. It happens going both up and down and usually happens about 4 inches from the full up position. Seems like posibly binding/excessive resistance in the rear track. I'd be curious to know whats used for lubricating the tracks.

Has anyone found that replacing the tracks with new (LMC) fixes it? Wonder if its just the age causing rubber and the felt-like material on the tracks to get hard and grab the glass more than it should. Dunno. Just a thought.

Exact same issue here.

Mine started doing it when I switched to LMC window channels

X2, I'm beginning to think that is the problem also. Mine worked fine before I took everything apart for paint. I changed the channels just to have everything new.

Re: door windows

Did you buy new window guides from lmc also? I was just wondering if they were any wider than the factory ones. The stock guides seem to be too small for the track. I might just buy new window tracks from GM.

Re: door windows

I bought new window channels from GM today and the windows work like new. The LMC ones seemed to have too wide of tracks, but problem solved.
