I have a built motor with 4bolt mains, cryo crank, vortecs, 50# injectors, atr headers and 3" dwnpipe and a 415 cam ready to install. Will the pt61 get me over 500hp on pump gas? of course with a good tune. I have a bult trans w a 2800 lock up convertor. . I was looking at the gt35r but its a little expensive and i wonder if its overkill? This motor only has a cryoed stock crank. Any help would be greatly appreciated since im ready to order a turbo, thanks

PTE63 @ 16psi: 385hp
PT61 @ 16psi: 400hp
GT35R @ 16psi: 415hp
if nothing else i'd stand by that order/closeness in power levels each w/ an agressive tune at 16psi and stock other crap. (going w/ the 4"/2.5" covers on the 61/35) Heads/Cam/Timing/Injectors/IC...theres too much to just assume power levels - aside from the fact that no 2 trucks react to the same mods in the same way. People have gained power from .05 difference in plug gaps...so you aren't going to get a solid/proven answer for YOUR truck.

I am with Mike. I think all three of those Turbo potentially could hit 500+ hp with 22-25 psi of boost. I am hoping the PT61 will because that is my goal I have for HP, though ultimately I really care more about the ET/MPH at the track.

a buddy of mine put down 400+ hp on one of waller modified turbos at 22 psi. he swapped to a pt6131e and is aiming for 500+ at 22-23 psi. should be on the dyno right now
hes got vortecs and a 422 cam
i've got a 6152 on my truck. the GN guys have pushed them to high 10's. i know a syty would need more turbo for that but my truck is a little different

How does that 74gtq drive on the street? I just got off the phone with precision turbo, They told me they make the pt61 in a ball bearing version. Does anyone have experience with this turbo? I also am unsure of what flanges i have to order, Do sy/ty's have a t4 or a t3 exhaust flange?? sorry for all the ?'s ive tried searching before posting.

74 was great on the street. from a light with no brake boosting i still went sideways 1 lane over it makes so much power down low. all 4 spinning like craqzy with drag tires on all 4 and caltracs. very fun turbo

i made just a bout 500 with same cam with a gtq67 but them 50s might be a lil small

Im running a GTQ 72 this turbo is great!! full boost at 3800 rpm very streetable. With all the supporting mods this turbo will make an easy 500 @ the crank with room to grow Mike at rpm sells them, works well with his down pipe and gate. For the strret a 2800 stall will work fine for this turbo.

i had a stock crank in it when it ran, dont know why but i melted 2 pistons twice now so now it is all apart again. i could build as much as needed on the street from the foot brake. never had a chance to get to the track with it.

We where talking about this at the track tuesday! Dons said is crank was an off the shelf recon. Nothing special. My crank is stock cryoed!! As long as the knock is under control the crank should hold up fine to the 700 range!sy445 said:
