i bought a pte 54 2 yearsago when i first built mytruck i now have about 300 miles on the truck since i vebeen dealing with a smoking issue from the exhaust well i went through the motor again come to find out this whole time i got a shitty turbo brand new out of the box any body else have this happen? i bought the turbo from mccoy motor and got the wrong turbo to begin with it was suppose to be a stock replace ment well it was for a grand national and the flanges were wrong but i work at an exhaust shop and i was impatient to drive the truck since i just got done dumping 10'000 dollars into it well i didnt complain but now im thinking i got screwed with this turbo precision wont help me and neither will mccoy i think its bullshit ive never even had the truck over 10 lbs of boost

i guess im just wondering if anyone else hashad problems with this

I sent you a website in your other post for Limit engineering they are awesome with turbos. If you can't rebuild it yourself they are the ones to go too. Jerry use to help me in the past but after buying a motor from him and it went south in 3,000 miles from some builder issue i don't care to use him anymore.

This company will do it right and they are honest.

I had GT35R that went and come to find out they found porcelain marks on the exhaust wheels from when my builder hurt the engine on the dyno and the plug got hit a little bit and went through and made it out of balance but lasted 4 months after that happened.

yup. I've had problems with precision from the first time I've dealth with them. horrible customer service and middle of the road products at best. I've had 2 brand new turbos from them leak out of the box. thats why I dont use them on any of my personal trucks. only if the customer demands precision do I use them.

Re: precision turb problems

X2 on the John Craig rebuilds.....

I'm hoping the quality is good on the dual ball bearing turbos Precision puts together.

I'll have one of those here in the next week or so. John Craig doesn't make BB turbos :(

There was a huge problem with the .51/.52 turbos that Precision made and alot of guys

had them fall apart (wheels explode) and it was always the customers fault.

Talk to anyone there at John Craig if you've got a GN style turbo... that's the right group

of guys to deal with

Re: precision turb problems

What does a rebuild normally cost on a non bearing turbo (pte63 for me). I am interested in getting one refreshed....there is no known damage anywhere. ---

Re: precision turb problems

Did you use a new oil feed line. Did you replace oil cooler. Install a filter on new oil feed.
It dont take much to wipe out the bearings, then thay leak and smoke!!! Happens more offten than you might think.

2-300 if done by an independant. 6-700 if you send it to a big turbo shop. thats if there is nothing wrong with it. if you need wheels or bearing housing double that quickly
