Moving again... Anyone near Shreveport?

Well it looks as though I am going to have to leave my adopted motherland, the state we call Texas, this summer. We arent going that far since we will be just one state over. Fortunately the base we are going to is 20 miles from the Texas border so it shouldnt be so bad. Anyone here near Shreveport, Louisiana? Anyone been there? If you have some thoughts about the area, where to live etc. I would appreaciate it.

very nice track there! I'm about 1.5 hrs away. The track is Red River Raceway.

Is it a 1/4 mile track? Looked at their website and it looked like their programs were all 1/8th mile.

1/4 track. Very nice compared to what I'm used to (twin city drags in Monroe La, Prescott speedway near Gurdon AR). I've never been there in my Syclone, only my GN. Test and tune Friday nights from 5-10 if I remember correctly.

From the underwhelming response, it looks at though the Syty population there is near zero.

I'm in Shreveport! Jamnut is close, I believe. Going to Barksdale AFB?

In Bossier City(right across the river from S'port) there's plenty of great neighborhoods. Greenacres Place, Old Greenacres, Brownlee, Lakewood, Bellaire, SWhady Grove, Golden Meadows. We only had like 1 homicide last year. 50-70k people.

Shreveport, on the other hand, had like 40 murders, has like 300k people and there's a ghetto for every nice neighborhood.

I want my kid going to the best high school in that area. Do you happen to know the name of the better high school?

Uhg... My Magnum got jacked at the movie theater last week. Walked out after 300 and... gone! Havent heard from it since. I loved it. I was very fast, handled great and stopped awesome. It also hauled the kids and their crap around rather nicely. I really miss my satellite radio.

South of there is Bellaire, Shady Grove, Golden Meadows, All great neighborhoods. The high school is actually in the neighborhood itself, Parkway High School Panthers. Better than the school I went to, but not the best.
