Where in Texas are you? That's cool that we have a saudi Syclone here now! Post in this thread and check out some of the other people that might be around you.

Check the bin and see if it's the "NM8" chip.
Where is the BIN in a Syclone, passenger floor board?

San Antonio,

It just arrived here this morning..unfortunately the guy I bought it off of didn't send the title or any other paperwork with the truck and the truck itself doesn't have an inspection sticker, registration sticker or even the old license plates so I can't even drive it. :(

Re: Why does this Syclone have a different gauge cluster

There is a VIN and a BIN.
VIN is the number at the base of the windshield on the drivers side. That will tell you exactly what kind of vehicle you have. That's the number they can search on.

BIN is a term we use for the "Binary" code on the PROM (Chip) in the ECM. If your ecm still has the factory tamper seal intact DO NOT TAKE IT OFF. But on true Saudi Sy's, the code on that chip is the NM8 code for running the truck on leaded fuel. There should be an oxygen sensor with the wires clipped if you look at the downpipe off the back of the turbo. It's not that I don't believe you. It's just that these are very rare, and I want you to know for sure if you've got the real deal or a conversion.

I understand what a BIN is, I am just not exactly sure where it is located inside the truck to take a look at it.

This truck is Syclone #2814 VIN #1GDCT14Z0M8802814.

It is listed here http://www.syty.org/old/saudisy.html as being one of the 31 withdrawn from Saudi and rebuilt by GM to be sold in a raffle to GM employees.

From what I was able to find out,

once these 31 returned to the states GM had the tonneau covers removed and the trucks stripped down for cleaning, then they rebuilt them adding a new O2 sensor.
The S-10 cluster Bezel was used to convert the Saudi cluster that is installed to U.S. standards.
