Advice for newbie on 1st Typhoon

Street legal, stock appearance

Advice apreciated - the value on hi-milage cars has fallen to $9-10k...should I stick to the low mileage cars?

Just like any car, mileage will become less of a concern depending on how far the vehicle was modified and what was replaced. You can save a lot of money buying a truck that has already been modified as long as you protect yourself as much as possible by asking for relevant documentation (as you have already done). You can further protect yourself by buying a "proven performer" that has been around the BB or other sources that can verifiy it is what the seller is advertising.

You say "upgraded to the hilt" which leaves a lot to the imagination. People have taken these trucks to extreme levels so everyone would have their own definition of what this means. Like any car, it is generally limited to what your wallet will handle.

You might try narrowing your search by also including what you want to spend (roughly) as well as performance expectations. The money required to go from 11's to low 10's more than once is substantial.

Lastly, a low mileage "upgraded to the hilt" truck will cost you a lot more than $8k-$10k but I assume you already know this. These are definitely NOT cheap vehicles to modify. As a ballpark figure, expect to spend anywhere from $25k-$40k depending on how low the mileage is and how far it is modified. I can say this because that's how much mine is worth to me (see sig).

You must consider the vast amount of money you WILL invest in her in upkeep. Its a good idea to know someone close who is willing to help you acquaint yourself with the all the issues be it preventive maintenance or otherwise. If you dont have a wealth of cash stashed somewhere, be prepared to park your truck for long periods of time. It seems that everything is an evolution with these trucks but I wouldnt trade it for the world. They are uniquely awesome suvs and its well worth it. In short, know what you are getting into BEFORE you buy.

well, if you check out the website fractional-supercars.com, I'm guessing that's where the Typhoon will end up. Being leased by 4-7 people.... So I'm guessing the money for upkeep is there... but it's not the best idea for a Typhoon, IMO. Sure, Porsche's and Ferrari's and the like take regular maintenance and upkeep.... but nothing like a Typhoon. There's people out there who know how to fix a poorly running Ferrari. They can fix a Porsche transmission. Without firs thand knowledge of these trucks, I'm guessing it won't create many happy customers if it blows up or the tranny dies in the first few weeks and after someone fixes it, it dies again.

Best advice before making that sort of investment.... read read read and know what kind of car you are buying. It's certainly not a Honda in terms of reliability (even with Mods) and it certainly won't have the quality of parts even a Corvette might have. :tup: It's a GM SUV after all :rotf:
