Vortech question

What all is involved in doing the Vortech swap? I m going to get me a pair of heads for $150. What do I need to do to the manifold to get it all to work right? Are the bolt holes for bolting the intake down the same? I know about adding the piece of aluminum to cover the gap thats there. Are the injector bungs the same?

Re: Vortech question

The problem is fitment.. Heads don't bolt up directly to the lower intake so you have to machine the lower intake to line up with the heads properly, then drill/tap the heads so you can bolt the intake to the heads.. I believe renz had a good write up on this somewhere.. I'll look for it

Re: Vortech question

What about the ATR Headers on my L35's - will they bolt up to the Vortec's?
A member recommended that I use shaft-mounted-rocker Vortec's - any thoughts on that?

Re: Vortech question

The thing that scares me about the vortec swap is I heard there is a big chance of air leakage from all the mods if not done 100% precise. ---

That's why you pay one of our professional vendors to do it, with their percise equipment and you don't have to worry about it

The leaks usually happen when using the double gasket methods. I would recommend getting the intake weld instead.

who is doing the mods to the intake and heads because I want mine done to

If I were you I would get ahold of Mike @ RPM since he's the closest to you ( just for the shipping reasons alone )

When I bought my heads, just to have them shipped was like $50 alone

Those heads are heavy. The weight alot more than the aluminum SBC stuff I was used to dealing with...

the stock and l35s have the coolant temp sensors in a diffrent location on the head, so you need to grind that area on the header flange to clear with vortecs.

on our headers, we flip the flange upside down so it clears perfect without any grinding..
