Re: Help me out! urgent !

I have this problem sometimes and its because of my shifter linkage. Press the shifter up farther in park and then try. There is a linkage between the two and with things being old might need to be played with a little. If that doesnt work is the steering wheel locked, you might have to jiggle it back and forth.

You probably need a new ignition lock cylinder. Its pretty common, I've had to put one in a few of my s-series vehicles. Theres a couple tools you'll want to make it easier but the part is only a few dollars at any auto parts store and its usually in stock.

Re: Help me out! urgent !

Did a search, I came up with some instructions. I had no luck finding pictures but I tried.

http://wiki.answers.com/Q/How_do_you_replace_a_1993_chevy_s-10_blazer_ignition_lock_cylinder

Start by pulling the horn button off of the steering wheel, just grab it and pull, you'll see a big nut in the middle you will need to remove it and at this point you will need a wheel puller to remove steering wheel, probaly can rent or borrow one. Then it's a screw that holds the turn signal in place, pay attention how it goes and remove, next remove the screws holding the turn signal assembly in place. You'll have to wiggle it around to get the 4 way flasher button to come out with the assembly, leaving the wires intact just pull to the side out of your way. Now theres a outside snap ring around the splined shaft below where the big nut was, very hard to see it helps if you have someone to push down on the steering wheel lock disc, thats the black disc with teeth around the outside. Once you get the snap ring off the disc will pull off also, At this point put key in OFF postion and remove the last screw behind where disc was, should be in the upper right. This screw holds the lock cylinder in place it is longer than the others. Now gently pry the lock cylinder out, Don't move anything inside of steering coulum until you get new cylinder back in place. Then just reverse what you did to put it back together. I will admit snap ring is tough to remove, but process is kinda simple. On a scale of 1 - 10, i'd rate it a 4. Hope this helps..

If I remember right, you will need a steering wheel puller and a GM lock ring puller to get to the cylinder lock.

yep. Luckily its cheap though and the first time its hard to do but after doing it once you can do it in 15-20 minutes the next time.

Re: Help me out! urgent !

Its up to you. It didnt work for me cuz one day it got stuck in the run position and i couldnt shut the truck off. Maybe you'll have better luck. A new cylinder comes with a new key. At least for me it did from O'reillys auto parts. So you know whichever one is bad whether it be the key or the cylinder, they both will get replaced so you'll know you fixed it

I have noticed with my truck that none of the factory original keys work anymore because the teeth are smoothed out and worn down. I made copies for a fresh set and they work like new again

Do you have a working dome light when the door is open?

My bravada blew an alternator and the key wouldn't move forward and was stuck. If you DO have a dome light working when the door is open, then thats probably not the problem.

Re: Help me out! urgent !

I had one get stuck in the crank position - that really sucked - luckily I was able to run out and wiggle the battery connections loose. Goo dluck with the switch - if you pay attention when you take it apart, it will go together nicely - you will need a steering wheel puller, lock ring remover, a phillips screwdriver, and a torx driver (can't remember what size). pay attention to the little piece that goes into the square hole right next to the lock cylinder and make sure it goes back in, otherwise your horn won't work.

Re: Help me out! urgent !

just did mine was sticking in the run position i didn't use a streeing wheel puller
just braced and pulled up the hard part is the snap ring around the black lock plate
helps alot if there are 2 of you or a couple of "G" clamps to hold the plate down
once the lock barrel was removed you can then see if it's the part left behind or the bit
you pull out, mine was that bit, as it still jammed outside of the houseing i screwed it up
trying to open it up at $20 a go for a new now seems a waist of time get a new
