overboost

searched thru 6 pages, did not find an answer unless maybe the alcohol was a problem. truck overboosting to 20 psi on autometer guage. ecm cutting back, check engine lite coming on . codes 31,32 and 33. stock truck except for kn filter on turbo. boost was fine until plugs,cap,rotor and kn filter. replaced wastegate solenoid with new from gm. still hitting 20. unplugged wastegate solenoid electrical connection, still hitting 20. changed vacuum line, went from turbo to actuator, boost stays around 8 to 10. not good think i can run faster. going to go to 3 bar and moates setup but want to figure out what is wrong first. any ideas. thank you.

Something dosent jive here....... 20 psi on the stock 2 bar is messed up . do you have an aftermarket boost controler if so id turn the boost back to 14 psi stock trucks with 2 bar map shouldnt see 20 psi they are only capible of reading up to 14.7 psi thus when your spooling 20 it only sees 14.7 thus cutting your fuel to the cylinders VERY VERY VERY lean start with that ! Thats WAY to much boost !

If you are getting 8-10 by running Actuator to turbo I would guess something is wrong with the solioide or the way its hooked up. Check the connector, vac lines.

yep check vac lines/connections.....had a small piece missing in mine and it spiked to 22 psi at wot

Do you still have the cat on? I tried removing mine with the stock setup and screwed up my boost levels. Let us know what you find.

Things that I learned that can cause overboost are: vacuum lines, tps, wastegate rod, boost solenoid, frayed wiring harness, no cat, bad ECM chip, oh and I hear the stock wastegate has poor boost control. This is what have learned and I hope this helps you good luck

had vacuum lines turbo, actuator and solenoid not correct. now i am up to 12 psi on autometer guage. think that i will leave it there. have a way to monitor knock with caspers knock guage but need laptop to scan truck and make sure that i do not blow it up. money is getting tight. need a trans 4 the buick.thanks for the help everyone.
