My new winter wheels

Since my stockers were all bent, I managed to pick up these ASA wheels for $130 each.

asa_ar1_ci3_l.jpg

Specs:
17x8 (will fit my 225 Blizzak tires)
BMW offset 5x120
40 offset (same as stock front)

Rear 1.25" spacers for the rear. 5x4.75 to 5x120.
Plastic hub centric rings for the front.

Picked them up today. Man they look good with that lip! Can't wait to get them on. I was going to do Corvette Z06 wheels but I hate the 56 offset they have. I think these will look nice. Wider wheels coming for the summer...

I'll take a pic of the Ty when the wheels/tires are mounted.

Okay... finally got them mounted today. Took a crappy pic with my cell phone but I'll try to get some better shots later:

I know, I need to wash it. Damn wet winter roads! :(

They totally match the stock offset in the front. Rears have 1.25" spacers. At least I can rotate the tires now.

Coilover kit going on next week.

I've been running 1.5" spacers on my K5 Blazer for years with no problems. Just have to make sure they are torqued correctly to begin with.

Here's a pic of my 8 lug spacers from the Blazer:

One nice thing about the spacers is you can have them 5x4.75 on the inners and have them be 5x120mm out the outer studs.

Nice TY

Thanks! :) There's so many flaws the camera hides (notice the paint the doesn't match below). She still has a long way to go.

Here's a few more pics I took with a camera.

Yeah... I know. Already have coil over kit for the front. Not sure what to about the rear yet. Fiberglass springs? Blocks?

I'm lost here, what are you refering to? What inner and what outer?

I've also used a couple sets of those adapters on vehicals over the years and never had any problems. I know some people have them come loose also but besides proper tourque they should also be using some locktight on the studs, probably "blue"

EDIT: where you talking about the the inner holes being 4.75in. and the outer studs being 120mm. If so thats not a hudge deal since 4.75in. is 120.65mm which is more then close enough.

Yes, you can have them made so the inner holes are 4.75" (120.65) and the outer studs are 120mm. I know its very close but it wouldn't hurt to have the spacers made the proper stud diameter if it costs the same. Also, there's no way the plastic hub centric rings will help with the spacers installed.

I notice the paint now that you pointed it out. Get the 3" lowering belltech springs, it will in reality drop the back about 2". Should look perfect with the front coilover kit. I wouldn't go with fiberglass, I've heard bad things about them breaking. That's usually with blocks along with the fiberglass springs though..... I think the belltech springs would be the best way to go because then you won't have the harsh ride that blocks tend to have and you won't have to worry about the fiberglass springs breaking.... :2cents:

Honey Comb rims are not very good for the snow, they get packed with snow and vibrate. As you go down the road they vibrate because the wheel becomes unbalanced. I live in MN and have had this problem. Just my .02 I had a buddy with a BMW with BBS honey comb rims and he would carry a broom stick around with him to knock the snow out of his rims. It does take a lot of snow to get them packed good. The stockers are the best winter rim as far a design goes.

THANKS! Looks like I'll be getting the Belltech springs. I had the same thoughts on the fiberglass spring. Its amazing they can even make them out of that material.

But it never gets that deep here in Colorado:

Unfortunately, there's not many wheel choices that are similar to stock. I might see how much it will take to fix my stockers or keep an eye open for a stock set.

Re: My new winter wheels

I would go fiberglass lowering springs. They reduce weight, AND are custom built for your application. I have only heard of them breaking with REAL fast trucks, and the use of a traction bar ---

CV stub shaft has to be cut a little so I thought I'd wait until then.

Tires a tad small so I may go bigger down the road, just something I already had.

Looking at the summers now, thinking the common ZR1's with 315's in the rear.

Already purchased the Belltech's. I had read that the fiberglass springs don't handle has well as the steel springs. I plan to do the battle bars and do major upgrades on engine so I'm not so sure if those will suite me.
