Yeah, I've been wanting to put Torco in my tank but I don't know where to buy it here in the Bay Area. Can you mail order this stuff?

xylene...Wear gloves. I use a pump to put it in. Dont try to pour it because if it splashes anywhere your f@#!. It does make the exhaust smell so try not to idle in one place too long. After about 40 gallons of xylene you could have bought a alky kit. Xylene is about 50$ for 5 gallons. At least in the SF bay area.

It also makes the skin around your eyes very sticky, when you splash it in them.

Moral: Eye protection.

I pour it into a can with a couple gallons of gas in it, then dump that into the tank.
Not as nasty as straight xylene.

I've never seen a concentration greater than 20% do significant good, in terms of knock reduction.

Years ago, the F1 guys tried to burn this stuff pure... the rules people caught on.

so with that torco concentrate youd be able to advance timing and turn boost up to 25 psi? or wouldnt be recommended just get 116?

Just a bit of info on octane boosters. If the product says it raises the octane by 4 points that actually equals .4 increase in octane rating. So a product that raises the octane by 4 points you get a rating of 87.4 if you started with 87 octane. To raise the octane from 87 to 88 you need a product that raises the octane by 10 points which equals 1 in octane rating.

WalMart sells 0to60 octane booster made by Prestone that raises the octane by 10 points.

Torco is the real deal, from what I understand. Not the 104+ BS you buy at Autozone. I still don't know where to buy this stuff in California. Maybe I'll have to mail order some.

Sweet. I'm going to order 12 cans of the stuff today. Sounds like 1.5 cans mixed in with a tank of 91 should yield at least 100 octane. Add the alky injection on top of that and I think I'll be OK running 25psi in the spring (Datamaster will confirm). Are there any drawbacks to running this stuff other than the orange deposits it leaves on the plugs from the MMT?

At that special price better to go with the Torco, but at his regular price I'd start looking around for a VP retailer. I've found several new stations that sell VP95 or 100 between my house & work. The VP95 goes for $3.99/gal.
