Typhoon's capability

Hey guys, i am somewhat new to the Typhoon scene. I have a Turbo regal that is heavily modded and should run low 11s, I have been thinking of trading it for a Typhoon, How fast can these cars be with only a few mods before you start running into drivability issues? I wanna be quick but I am guessing these cars are slow on the freeway because of the AWD system( I know they launch hard, but so dos the regal), please correct me if I am wrong but I am just wondering, thanks for any help.

Re: Typhoon's capability

Regals/GN's can't launch hard w/standard radial tires, no comparision. Just stating a fact ;)
Heavily modified Regal,,,, only 11's?????, What are these heavy mods????
The AWD system does slow it down quite a bit. A regal will smoke it from a roll. :rotf:

Part of owning a vehicle is understanding your limits. In the real world, the sytys generally DO tend to lose their advantage once rolling.

that not downing them. its true. They are not faston the highway, they are quick off the line. Stoplight racers they rule, from a roll just go home.

Hes coming from GNs and they dont launch hard, but they smoke a SyTy from a roll!

Re: Typhoon's capability

i beg to differ bout a gn launcing hard, my buddy has an 87 with VERY minor bolt-on with the boost turned up to @19lbs and i pulled a 1.68 in his car with a on mt drag radials, my best is a 1.800 on reg street radials, the gn has BONE STOCK suspension too, 300$ for DR's is better than a $400 propshaft

yeah in a strait line...and i know of some ty's that keep up with modded sti's till 140...but its a truck do you really want to go that fast...im sure a ty can out handle a gn on the highway anyday i was messing around with one when i had my regal and that thing was like a 3 year old coloring

You are right as well. SyTys are AWESOME on the highway. I often beat Z28s, Vettes and Vipers top end in my Typhoon. Mainly past 100mph is when the Ty really starts to pull away from all those slow sports cars.

The GNs are known for not being able to hang with a Typhoon once it really starts to cut the wind.

Is there anything that we SyTy people can do to make our trucks better out of the hole? I never seem to see a SyTy ever beat the super fast and hard launching RWDs.

You guys are gettings crazy. In general, stereotypically speaking SyTys are knows to be bad asses out of the hole from stoplight to stoplight. GNS arent. SyTys are NOT known to have any advantage from a roll top end, GNs are much better top end for the most part.

Im sorry to have offended you guys, but you need to understand there is ALWAYS an exception.

damn shuggs, wasnt trying to start any crap. his gn is kind of a freak anyway, and i like the way mine launches waaay better than his, somethin bout fighting the steering wheel and the way it sound like every piece in the driveline is gonna shatter. im not taking the gn side, im a hardcore ty guy, sorry if you took offense

Re: Typhoon's capability

i owned an 86 gn for about five years and it had all the kenne belle goodies you can think of on it, it ran 11z at colorado altitude, but with street radials and traction bars it wouldnt come close to the launch of even a stock typhoon, mid range level was about the same, top end (more than a 1/4 mile) the gn is faster, because the gn was designed to run with v8s in the NASCAR circut, as far as for STREET, i prefer the Encredible launch of the Typhoon

Re: Typhoon's capability

Hey guys, I wasnt trying to offend anyone, I thought it was common knowledge that AWD drive cars are slowed down froma roll. Anyways It has all the bolt on except heads and cam, CPT61BB, HUGE FM IC and all the other supporting mods. OH and with DRs and a trans brake, the car launches pretty damn hard......thanks for the help, I think I am keeping the regal

The key is MT drag radials, I want to see one do that on regular radials that you can drive every day. GN's have more potential at the track.
