I've personally seen a texas truck that was residing in Indiana for awhile use a very similar hold down strategy. Actually drove the truck around the block with multiple bungee cords holding it on.

i also know a certain white Typhoon that has about 14 industrial zip-ties being used as a battery tie down. however I was involved with the machining of a custom aluminum piece this weekend to replace those.

Too bad you don't have a picture of the JSM custom axle retention strap used on the above mention Texas truck.

BTW how long do you think it will take HARDman to install his new battery bracket? I bet it is still held in by zip ties come nats X.

Depends on if HARDman can get his dad to polish it up. If it polishes up nice, it'll be a 20 minute install, and will actually look nice. He's been talking alot about baby steps, and thats all that truck needs. Just a little bit of TLC spread over the whole truck.

And that "I think it'll hold" strap was too good. Lucky thing you and I thought fast enough to grab the frame, or it woulda tipped forward quick fast and in a hurry.

How's The PowerMig welder working for you. I have the same one! Have you tried flux core wire and gas with it yet? That combo works good for me!

Expensive battery hold down

From experience I know that hold down cost more than the battery... didn't know Home Depot sold Sy/Ty parts! :rotf:

If youre talking about the little 110v MIG in the corner its actually a MAC (made by Lincoln) thats prolly 15+ years old. The switch in the gun is about worn out since you have to whack it on something every now and then to get it to work but it still welds fine. I tried the flux core wire once and really didnt care for it so I stick with 75/25 mix gas.

Ok I'll admit that one /\ is better than mine but Im a little disappointed in the fact there are no vice grips clamping the bare cable ends to the battery posts  :p .

Oh I saw the tape alright, which is a nice touch, but I would think with all of that "custom" work that there would be a couple pair of vice grips on there instead of real live battery terminals  .

Can we get 1/2 credit for the pair of wire cutters/crimpers that are just "laying" on the framerail slightly behind the battery? What about for work done in the grass instead of the garage?
