If its a Sy, I would say atleast a PTE67. For a more streetable turbo you probably want a Ball Bearing. As for daily driven, I don't know if I could say that their are many daily driven low 10's sec SyTy's, streetable yes.

Would a gt35r be enough and if not whats the next step up from that? (doesn't neccesarily have to be garret)

Now that the big shaft T series turbos are available in ball bearing CHRA's, I'd suggest either a 70 gtq for a street application or either a 74 or 76 if your looking to spend more time at the track. If your looking for 10's and want a ball bearing turbo, your better off investing in the big shaft turbo for strength and durability.

What kind of pricing might i expect for a BB70qtg? What are the inlet/outlet sizes?

Price is $1999 for the turbo. The 70 comes standard with an H cover 4" in, 3" out, but you can also do an S cover 4" in, 2.5" out. Call us for more details.

Would there be any clearance issues with stock manifolds?

Well, you have to bear in mind that as a dual BB, it will spool pretty similar to a 71gtq, if not better. I had a 71gtq on my truck previously, and with a 3400 stall, the spool was instant.

Well a motor can't move the truck if the transmission is broken, so I am going to say you need a 4L80E conversion as well. Unless you want to run 1 mid 10 in between each rebuild.

Well the 71 would be BB as well. Scott what do you think the spool #'s would be on a dbb 71 vs dbb 74?

For a daily driven truck I'd try and keep the stall down to a 3000-3200 and add timing to spool it faster.

You will need a spacer to get it to clear A/C on the stock manifolds.

I thought we spoke over the phone and you wanted to push the stock motor. If thats the case, your not going to have to push hard putting this size of turbo on it.

If I'm wrong, and you have started a new build, then it really comes down to what your build consists of to select the turbo that will support it.

So lets talk build(s).

Would stock vortec heads, a 412/415 cam, 3k stall, 67mm turbo get low 10's? And say 11.0's without trying?

I'm looking going to buy the heads and the cam within a month. And want to plan my build. I have the 60-1 turbo right now, and am wondering how far I can push that with a slight build like I said above?

Is the big shaft pte 67 turbo a ball bearing turbo ( I have one uninstalled) ? If not what does it use? Can you get it rebuilt and upgrade it? Thanks ---

You need a bigger turbo if you want to get low 10's. A 74gtqbb would be a good one for your combo. If its more of a street truck and you are happy with mid-high tens/low 11's then maybe go with a 70-72, but I just don't think you'll get there with a 67.

They are available in both journal and ball bearing CHRA's. Does yours have a water cooled center section? If so then it should be a dual ball bearing. You can also check the flange if its from PTE, since they stamp them. It will have an R after PT67 similar to this pic:

It can be rebuilt, give us a call if your interested in pricing. You might be better off selling the one you have and ordering a new one, but I can give you prices either way.

If yours is a dual ball bearing, make sure you use the oil restrictor fitting. Its also a good idea to put an inline filter in as well.
