You'd like the ratios a lot better too... used the iroc box with the 2.95 first gear

I have a shift pattern for the knob in the mail, and also the correct engine is on it's way. Hopefully I will have the truck running and driving again before I go back to school.
Also, the pedal bracket and master cylinder are scheduled for tomorrow

Re: Sonoma GT 519 - the rebuild saga (picture intense)

Today's update is that all the major components are in place... pedals, holes are drilled for master cylinder, tranny is in, etc. All that is left now is putting all the loose parts back on and hooking up the lines for the clutch... the clutch will have to wait until the motor gets here unfortunately  ... will have pictures sometime in the near future

More small progress... clutch pedal bracket completely bolted in place and dashboard put back together, have the correct master cylinder coming for installation tomorrow, also going to do ball joints and tie rod ends when I swap the new brakes tomorrow. Then, going to try my hand at salvaging the front fenders and making a bracket to hold the console in place.
Do have pictures, will upload soonish

Pics of the alarm I removed, pedals in and the floor pan vacuumed clean of paint

nice progress. Whats the bar/brace hanging down between the clutch and brake pedals?

It goes between the bracket and the master cylinder (my assumption is to keep the cylinder from bending the sheetmetal every time you step on it). It is hanging down because I have to swap master cylinders due to a problem with the hose fitting, I'm going to pick the new one up right now, actually

Wait? So you have a standard console with a 5 speed and a stock looking boot/shifter? That's cool.

That was the idea ;) ... Wanted to keep the stock look, and some decent gear ratios

Took me about 2 weeks to figure out all the parts and pieces I would need to make it work... and the I duplicated the measurements from the Typhoon's shifter when I was fabbing the shifter for the GT to get it as close to the stock look as I could

On another note, got the master cylinder in and the dash back together

Today was a slow day, did a lot of driving trying to get parts
Anyway, tomorrow #1 priority is the brake swap, then console bracket
Also discovered that one of the previous owners lost the special socket for the lug locks that are on the truck... good thing I have enough loose hardware lying around so I can weld nuts on them

Re: Sonoma GT 519 - the rebuild saga (picture intense)

Did a lot of wrestling with the front end in this thing today... one side down. Also finished up the interior mods, made a bracket for the console and figured out how I'm mating the tranny (mount is angled and off center) to the trans mount

No pics... forgot the camera.... got the suspension and brakes all set and am currently figuring out all the dimensions I need to make the new trans mount bracket. Hopefully that will be done tomorrow, and maybe some sheetmetal work

Re: Sonoma GT 519 - the rebuild saga (picture intense)

Made the offset trans bracket today... which got the shifter centered

What'd we do?????

I think it is progressing nicely myself.
Renz stopped heckling me about how it will never work, so I thought you'd all stopped paying attention :rotf:

only thing i said wouldn't work is the bov setup, which doesn't work.

It might not be as effective as a intake tubing mounted BOV, but it does work :squint:
