Crank Pulley Spacer

anyone ever use one? Why are they so expensive? If i make one myself, and have it balanced, is there anything to worry about w/ running one?

I'm only going to be driving an alternator with it, so there won't be that much stress on it - I'm planning on mounting the alternator down low where the power steering pump usually is...but there isn't enough room for the alt becuase the alt pulley sticks out too far even with the alt touching the block.

Unless someone makes a half-depth alternator...my only option is the space the pulley out about an inch.

Talk amongst yourselves...

Re: Crank Pulley Spacer

depends on the cost really. Did you make one on yours? None of my pics of your motor from nats show any pulleys and i don't remember looking down at your crank. I'll have to measure to get an exact measurement of how far out i'd want it to stick, i'm guessing it'd only need 1" at most but not positive. Whats your guess on your fab cost?

Also, could you etch "renz" in it instead of "bully"

Re: Crank Pulley Spacer

I have been making pulleys for 25 years....Ti,alum,steel,mag....what would you like? 2024 alum prolly no more than 150.00 could be alot less...what dia.is it. cant engrave like that anymore though.

Re: Crank Pulley Spacer

very interesting. Let me play around w/ finalizing how i want to mount it. If I decide to do it w/ a custom pulley, could i just send you the stock pulley and give you the new dimensions? If i were to just do a spacer, i'd just have it cut by the waterjet contact i have. But a custom pulley sounds way cooler.

As for material, whatever you would recommend really. I'll have alum everywhere else, so if alum is cheapest anyway - prolly would stick to that. I'll get in touch w/ you in a couple days after i do some mockup. Thanks!
