Any shops specialized with engine swaps for the Typhoon? Live in San Jose area looking to restore a blown motor on a Typhoon. Any ideas? I'd appreciate any help.
I just want to make this Ty as stock as possible. With a budget that won't break my pockets too much. What would you suggest?live1053rulz said:Around here I think we're all having to become our own pros. I've been told a shop in Campbell has done a significant amount of work. Possibly called Campbell Automotive (but not the same one as the vender here). If nobody else has their info handy, I can probably find it. What kinda motor build are you wanting to do?
live1053rulz said:so yeah, pretty much buy a motor and put it in yourself.
Alright, now what choices should I make. There's a 4.3 block and an original that comes with it. They are both complete but the 4.3 from the blazer is already stripped to the core and he was going to rebuild that from scratch. So what do most guys put into these things, I mean stock isn't fast for anyone were guys. But what am I going to be happy with. I just like the car how it is. Another idea I've got is the Ty block on ebay that says its the original crate block, can I build this thing up? Give me some insight.QUICK STORM said:yes, you just have to source the parts.
Do you have a build sheet? Did you do the swap yourself or have the whole job done? How long does a complete build take? RPM seems to be a reputable shop. With all your recommendations they must be familiar with Ty engines and turbos or what?GM tech said:RPM built what it sounds like your looking for, reliable, drivable, fast, fun and all for about $6K with the turbo and odds and ends.
