So Gt fuel pump

I am wondering what the so gt people are using for a fuel pump. Since these require such a high pressure does the standard walbro work or does it burn up from working to hard? Thanks in advance.

Why would you think a 255 Walbro would burn up in a SGT over a SyTy? Are you thinking the SGT doesn't need that much fuel and it will be overkill?

Re: So Gt fuel pump

Because So Gt's use cpi injection and have to have between 55-63 psi constantly to run, so if a pump is designed to be run at say 40 psi most of its life it would be overworking itself.

Basically the kid I bought the truck from put a regular tbi pump in it and it ran for a while because the pump was over working itself and the regulator was keeping the pressure high, pump did not last very long.

And finally ape does not list a walbro for the so gt's on there site which makes me think I need a different pump. Basically I only want to do this once so I want the best parts that will last the longest since this is gonna be my dd once I actually get everything fixed on it.

Be sure to check the fuel filter on the frame rail. I learned this the hard way with my GT years ago. The replacement pump worked good for awhile but the filter was mostly blocked and the pump went out again. Changed the filter and pump and it's been fine since. That was probably 50K miles ago.

Re: So Gt fuel pump

Fuel Filter, sending unit, cpi unit everything has been changed by the previous owner who apparently knows nothing about cars and everything has been redone by me now. Only reason I am wanting a better pump is the crappy one I got through one of my accounts(only one I could get at the time) just barely puts out 57 psi mostly around 55-56 which can cause a driveablility problem and before I go by a delco one I would much rather have a walbro. I figured this would have been brought up before by other so gt owners since this is a very important part to driving these trucks.

Oh and like I said I had looked on ape, Ron's site and they did not list the w code engines.
Thanks

Re: So Gt fuel pump

Thanks for that website, according to it the sy and so gt use the same pump. So now I would like to know why that site is so much cheaper for a walbro pump. It shows $70 for the pump whereas ape lists the hp for $100 something. This is a budget truck and I love to give money to the community but $30 is $30 you know. Unless that site is just using the walbro name and they are not actually walbro pumps.

If anyone knows please reply as it would help greatly. Thanks
