having problems with my sy

Hi, I am new to this forum and I have a couple of problems with my sycone right now.

even though I could be opushing more boost, it is tunned for 20
psi ant it is all I am running for now.

My first problem involves a lot of blow by. it has to oil catch can connected to each head cover and the one connected to the passengers side is also connected to the intake. if I disconnect any of these, bkue smoke comes out of the valve cover hole where the breather goes, I guess the turbo sucks it in through the intake when connected and blows it out the exhaust. I thing this might be a bad ring but the funny thing is that sometimes it smokes a lot out the exhaust, and sometimes, it does not smoke at all. Oil pressure, temp etc etc are fine.

My second problem is that, out of 7 races (per say). the drivers side manifold gets red glowing hot. I have not a clue of what this is, sometimes it does it, sometimes it doesnt. the first time it did this, was when I found out the torque converter was lose but I fixed that and is still doing it.

And the third one is, that if is a hot day and I don't full trhotle on it for a list 3 sec. so the methanol kicks in, when I try to launch it, it takes years to boost up or sometimes it won't even go over 6 psi deppending on how hot it is.

I figure all this could be related to tunnig because is tunned for a much colder weather but I wanna see what you guys think about this.

here are some of the mods in my truck: (thank you)

Re: having problems with my sy

did you do a compression/leak down test to see if you are having mechanical problems? that could be the cause of your "blow by" issue. there are some pcv diagrams available on the site if you search for it that could help with the pcv setup.

glowing hot manifold could be a timing issue. have you done datalogging with your fast system to determine whats going on with the motor? do you have the wideband o2 option? if so what is your afr during your runs? if not, what are you using to judge your tune by? egt, standalone wbo2, plug readings, etc? who did the fast tune for the motor?

Re: having problems with my sy

On the 3d problem with the meth- are you saying that on a hot day if you dont floor it for 3 seconds to activate the meth then it wont boost over six pounds?

If you HAVE to have meth to go over 6 lbs on a hot day then there is something wrong with your tune or intake temps.

Smoke out of the valve cover, oil in catch can usually means you need rebuild (rings or broken piston)

Glowing red hot means it running lean (or could be rich if gas being ignited in the manifold) Given the first problem I would guess your running lean.

Re: having problems with my sy

now the question is. who can work on my engine? I wanted to take it to mccoy but Jerry said they don't work on trucks anymore. I everyone I ahve talked to here in memphis act like they know it all but they always come up with stupid bullshit, so I really don't want anyone to touch my truck unless thay really know what they are doing. I want some one to work on it and make it run to its full potential. I think I could probably go in the low 10s with what I got plus a 400 tranny. so, do you guys know anyone close to memphis who can help me out and don't take my parts???????

Re: having problems with my sy

first thing, do a leak down.

As for the glowing manifolds, typically this means either lean or timing is retarded. However, stock and aftermarket manifolds are prone to glowing under heavy load, even with normal operating conditions. Usually anywhere there is a restriction (sharp turns, etc) is where it will glow.

As for your boost vs. spool up etc you just need someone to tune it properly.

Sounds to me like you got one hell of a buildup, but left the tuning part out.

Re: having problems with my sy

Hey man glad you made it in here. Damn didnt know you had a build like that.

The blow by I would say is ether rings or pistons( ask me how I know).

The manifold glowing got a questions here
1. does it idle ok? If not might have an injector stopped up.

Boost problem question here also.
What wastegate are you using?

Re: having problems with my sy

It idles perfect, waste gate has an upgraded selenoid that is it, but yeah I think I got bad rings plus i am in need of seriuos tunning.
