Re: wastegate

i had the stock turbo on my sy and ended up with a external on my crossover.
it worked good while i had it.
but if i were you, and it sounds like the turbo is very accessible, i would send it to somebody have it ported with a bigger flapper, ive heard of this making a good difference.

Re: wastegate

Help me out here, you had the wg mounted on the crossover tube that connects the drivers and pass. side manifolds? Maybe I'm not understanding how that would work, wouldn't all the exhaust from the pass. not even be affected?

Re: wastegate

Good write up Ryan, that helped alot. I still am confused though on how putting it on the crossover is effected by the pass side manifold. Does it not matter because your building pressure in the whole exhaust system and the pressure doesn't care where the excess gets vented from as long as it vented?

Re: wastegate

For the best boost control, an external gate is best.

The cross-over is not the best place for a wastegate, but it's the easiest place for us to mount a gate on our application. The excess pressure for the whole system is vented through the gate in the cross-over. Ideally, you'd like to have your gate mounted after your exhaust merge collector, but you'd need to have some fabricating done to facilitate that.

Here is a much better gate, and what do you know... it's less expensive! Made by me!

Re: wastegate

Ok now that makes sence, it's just easier to put on the crossover. Whats your opinion on why the wg you put up is better then the other?
