Ouch, glad you were okay, and the other guy didn't feel your wrath. Awesome to hear that the truck will be fixed as well. Now all you have to do is show up at the ins. company with one of those foam neck collars on......:rotf:

I give you   for fixing it. As you don't hear that very often anymore. The norm today is part it out.

Ive got a few more years (hopefully) before Im too old to fix em so parting it out isnt an option for me. Hell, body work isnt a huge prob for me and I was even going to try to fix the truck in the following link if I could have gotten to it before it was parted since #1969 was the Syclone Ive always wanted http://www.sportmachines.com/gallery/91Sy1969 .

Glad to hear you're not too banged up, and that we didnt need to start a "Bail Out Myclone" fund for killing the dude  .

Good luck on the Sy too, Ive got to get my front clip straightend out since some idiot backed out HARD into my parked truck a few weeks ago. The measely check from Progressive Ins. doesnt make me any more excited about it either  .

I hear ya... If you noticed in my previous reply to this thread I talked about my "list" and state farm being 2nd on that list? Guess who's first on that list? Progressive.....Ive had an axe to grind with them for several years and Im just waiting paitiently for the opportunity to lock horns with them again.

That sucks, man. At least the truck sounds fixable.

Thankfully you weren't seriously injured.

Added a pic for you carnage fans to the first post.

The rubber head that hit me got me dead center in the rear wheel. Looking closer at the rim I can see the gouged in outline of the metal frame that was around his front lic plate. All the bed side cladding was busted/broken off (I gathered it up and threw it in the bed) and the bed side is folded in in front of as well as behind the rear wheel.

Depending on how things go with the ins co it may be a bed side replacement or a complete bed replacement..dunno yet as I havent looked it over really close to see if the entire bed is tweaked or if its just that one bed side. The rim may be cracked since the tire went flat over the weekend from sitting in the garage even though it held air long enough to get it home and the side wall doesnt appear to be cut...dunno for sure since I havent looked it over closely or taken anything apart.

Least the guy has insurance (talked to them this AM) but I did a little digging on his driving record and it looks like hes an idiot going by the tickets hes been issued in the past. Hes got tickets for failure to yield the right of way, defective equipment, expired tags, and now failure to obey a traffic signal (aka running a stop light  ). Dumb ass  .....

While the damage could deffinately be worse (like damage to the cab) its all confined to the bed . The bed side in front of the rear tire is folded all the way in and touching the frame and the rear part of the bed side is folded in but not as bad since its ~3" from touching the frame. Since my garage isnt much bigger than your average bathroom I couldnt get a decent angle to take a pic and I was too tired from working all night to air up the tire and back it outside to get a better one.

What you cant see is how much time Ive spent aligning the bed, cab, fenders, and cladding to get those parts and their gaps in all but perfect alignment. Call me anal but body lines/gaps that dont line up are a pet peave of mine (one of many  ) when it comes to cars. If I added it up Ive got every bit of 40hrs in just aligning panels and removing/reinstalling the cladding to get it all to line up to my liking. Thats 40hrs of my life wasted I cant get back...anyone whos an anal paint and body man knows exactly what Im talking about.

It just pisses me off to no end since I was planning on going to the track this coming weekend after 4yrs of no track time as well as the purchase of $400 worth of fuel to do so. Now I guess the lawn mower and weed whacker get to drink 116 octane for a while  .

I agree about panel fitment. It drives me nuts if there not perfect/

You may be able to get your 40 hours back. Have a body shop pre-date an invoice for panel alignment and they should compensate you for it.

If you need cladding for the the entire bed side i can help you out with all new cladding.

Siphon it out, add some Sta-Bil, and hang on to it for when the truck is fixed. Glad to see it wasn't cab damage, that usually ends up being a nightmare. Bed repair still sucks, but at least whole beds are available in the event it's slightly racked. At least you can pull the bed off to look for obvious frame/rear end damage, not to mention repair would be slightly easier due to the easier access. In the words of Red Green..."Keep your stick on the ice. I'm pullin' for ya, we're all in this together":)
