ok guys went to the track today and i am a little disappointed.

run1
60 ft ....2.0
1/8.....8.9
1/4.....13.8
mph....98

run1
60 ft...1.9
1/8....8.8
1/4....13.7
mph...99

mods include: ic pump and lines hardwired , walbro fp, afpr set to 50, k&n cold air intake, full recent tune up and new shocks all around.

i thought i would be like low 13 range. truck seems very sluggish above 3500 rpm in 2nd and 3rd gear. i also have a 3 bar map and the phillip long chip ready to go in.

any input?

Re: help diagnose my 1st runs

Your 60' times are a bit sluggish. You should be able to get into the 1.7's/1.8's and that'll put you into the low-mid thirteens.

Most importantly ---- Are you running Datamaster or something similar?

Are you launching correctly? What psi are you launching at? Any wheelspin off the line?

What tires are you running? What air pressure?

Were you running in overdrive?

Re: help diagnose my 1st runs

your 60ft is where the problem is at try launching at about 7 to 9 psi. you should be able to hit 1.7 or a low 1.8

Re: help diagnose my 1st runs

Your mph is not bad, just need to launch better.
What altitude is the track?
You might be getting knock retard in the taller gears, hard to say. But like I said, MPH is not bad.
A chip should get you in the 100 MPH range if tuned correctly.
Check your front end , make sure you have minimum toe in. That will help your MPH.
Also you need the larger rear brake wheel cylinders to hold more boost while launching, a must!!
Got a new fuel filter?
So many things you can do...
Not bad, how many miles on your Sy?

Re: help diagnose my 1st runs

60k mile sy
sea level track
leaving at like 4-5 psi
30 psi street tires that came on the truck spinning...lol i know
truck was in d not od
no datamaster...left the laptop home
and the sy is full weight with 3/4 tank

so with some green dots, new chip, rpm muffler delete catback and maybe tc lockup how should i do

Should run in the 12's if you do that plus the other things I suggested.
Exhaust will really wake that bad boy up!!
Write down a list of things you might want to do & we will let you know if it's worth your time/money doing them.
I am not into spending a lot of money, just common sense, carefull porting of the mismatched manifold to turbo. That alone would be my top five things to do, labor intensive but it works.

i though that the fp at 50 was a little high should i lower it? what about when i do the chip? should i leave it at 50

If you can launch really hard it makes a world of difference. You will not be able to untill you change your rear wheel cylinders to the larger ones.
I would suggest getting a wideband o2 reader. I use the LM1. Works great, It was spot on comparing to the Dyno's o2 readout I just did last Friday

50 psi is probably high w/a stock chip & exhaust. Should really get a wide band reader, to be safe & accurate. It's worth the investment + you can use it on other cars. Like your friends, etc, maybe charge a fee to let them see if they are lean/rich, to help pay for your investment, if money is tight?

If you want help with diagnosing your first run. DataMaster should have been your first priority.
It may have been knocking all the way down the track and you wouldn't know it without DM.

Cool...post it up and we can take a look at it.
I just re-read my post and came across a little harsh. Sorry about that.

Re: help diagnose my 1st runs

I can't beleive the mph you're pulling out with those times. It makes me wonder why I'm not over a 100mph. Like others have said definitly try launching harder I usually leave at about 8ish or it'll start spinning the tires. You might even drop the tire pressure a little more.

Re: help diagnose my 1st runs

I seriously doubt you are getting much knock w/that kind of MPH.
Let us know how you do on Wendnesday!!
You can drop yor rear tire pressure to 28 or so & run 35 in the front.

Re: help diagnose my 1st runs

i would lower fuel pressure, you might be a bit too rich, causing the motor to bog down at high rpm or your pulling timing from KR.
