Help with Tunerpro

I am new to this whole tuning thing, I just downloaded Tunerpro RT, bought a ALDL cable and am trying to log some data. I plugged everything and read what I could in the help section but still can't figure out how to log data. Should I have gone with datamaster instead? Any help would be great!

Re: Help with Tunerpro

basic answer to a basic question

make sure you have the correct xdf and ads files. dig provided a patch to make the $58 connect easier..be sure to use it.

start TP, hit F4, choose a file to log to, press connect, press record...log...press stop

tons of info in this forum. a more indepth answer, is here..i guaranteee...do a little searching.

also...do some reading at thirdgen.org and at the tunerpro forum.

Gmoney, forget the patch thing. You need to have that burned to a chip to utilize it, and it doesnt sound like you have the hardware for that. Otherwise just do as Ashman said. Its a little tough getting started but once you get it figured its cake.

Ok, basically all I am wanting to do right now is just data logging, would datamaster be easier/better for me to start with right now?

Re: Help with Tunerpro

TunerPro is no harder than datamaster, and if you plan to do any tuning ever, you might as well just keep TunerPro. I think there are plenty of people who use DM on this board, but I think the majority of people who actually do any chip tuning use Tunerpro, even for just datalogging. Its the only software that is capable of doing it all.

Datamaster -vs- tunerpro for logging and what is easier is really void. They both have some strengths and weakness.

Once you get into tuning it isn't a question IMO. In fact I don't even have datamaster loaded anymore myself.

Re: Help with Tunerpro

So last night after loading datamaster I went out to record some runs. It records fine when I'm just cruising, but when I punch it I get a red data error and it stops recording until I let off the gas. What is causing that?
