Typhoon Model, computer, real?

Dabney and I are discussing some changes to his open road race typhoon. We would like to do some small scale wind tunnel testing.

Does anybody have any models of a typhoon? Heck even s10 blazer. Computer model would be ok also, I have the tools to make one from that, atleast one for wind testing.

Re: Typhoon Model, computer, real?

wasn't there a video game that someone made a 3d model of a sy/ty for?

you could probably use that, depending on if your software could read the format it was in

I remember that. I think it was only a Sy.

Johnny Lightning made a 1/64 scale Sy - how about sticking a back end on that?

Yes there was. There was a Sy and a Ty for that game (can't think of it right now though)

I think a model of a brick would be suitable for aero testing.

If you need a little bigger, a refrigerator would work too

and the game was Midtown Madness.

Isn't Dabney supposed to be putting that thing back together so he can drive it to Nats next year? Or is he going to set a new land speed record for Denver to KC? :rotf:

Yup, that's it. I have the hack somewhere, but I've never had the actual game :rotf:

Friend of mine made one for Need for Speed: High Pursuit also, but it is pretty crude.

I will see what I can dig up at home.
A few hard drive crashes will usually make finding old files difficult.

Jeff, what format do you need it in? Pro/E - SOlidworks be OK???

I don't have much spare time, but have been thinking about modeling a complete car. Perhaps this is the opportunity to do so??? Hell you have all the spare parts sitting around I can measure off of :D

In other thoughts, I have a scale model of a Syclone I haven't assembeled completely yet (cladding is still off because I couldn't decide on a color)....I could stretch/shrink some of those pieces to get the desired effect if you can find a 1G S10 blazer model to work with.

Yup, got that hack too. Don't have that game either, though.

Re: Typhoon Model, computer, real?

I have a brick and some rollerblade wheels. Shouldn't be hard to fabricate a working Ty model from that.

Re: Typhoon Model, computer, real?

I made a Sy and Ty for Need for Speed.
Those were the days, must have had 100 cars or more.
They're on the old PC though.

There is a full size blazer model out there and a late 90's model S-10 blazer

I downloaded both of them. Don't know how to use them but they may work if one of these other guys know how to pull the model up so you guys can use it.

Re: Typhoon Model, computer, real?

I'll trade you a 1:25 scale 1st gen S-blazer body and frame for, say... a complete 4L80E install?

Heck, I'll even toss in a Syclone model for the cladding parts.... no extra charge!

A couple of years ago, I sold a 1/24 scale resin Blazer body to someone on the list. Maybe, that person will step forward and identify himself.

Re: Typhoon Model, computer, real?

If you just want a model, I've got a 1:24 scale s-10 with syclone guts. If someone has a 1:24 scale Revel, you can take the cladding and stick on it. It's made out of Die cast aluminum with hood, doors and a tailgate that opens. The sy is a little longer than the ty though.
