Testing upper I/C

How do you recommned I test for a leak on the upper i/c. I can see it a little overflow mark were it came outta the cap. I removed the I/C and found a little green grime like it could of had a small leak ? hook it to a compressor and do a leakdown say 20 lbs ? I think the cap is set to 13 lbs ? Thanks for any input...Dustin

Cut a bike inner tube in half and place one end over the i/c inlet . Close off the other end of the tube and then blow it up to listen for leaks .

that will show if I have a vaccum leak verses a actuall core leak ??

Well I meant to say to put the tube on the i/c water inlet and cap the other off , pump up slowly and you will eventually hear it if theres a leak .
