Lowering....

Well I have read threads on lowering with block and it moves your wheels toward the cladding....I was wondering if these blocks are stock (they seem to be steal not aluminum). My cladding sits 11 inches from the ground. But from the pictures you can see the wheels are already toward the cladding...Input would be great Thanks Dustin

Yeah, definitely not stock. I would swap those pos's out and replace them with some Beltech drop leafs. You can get them for cheap.

Do you still have the stock air-ride/leveler pump connected? Do you still have the stock air-ride rear shocks too?

Here is a pick of my Ty w/ the Beltechs:

Yeah, I just used the thin angled stock shimmy-block w/ the Beltechs.

Re: Lowering....

I used lowering blocks on my old TY and it made the ride HORRIBLE. My SY has the lowering leafs and shocks. The ride isnt as good as the factory ride, but is alot better than having the blocks. Just my $0.02.

Re: Lowering....

You have the Bell Tech info handy ? I come up with 4-5 inch drop leafs...no other options ?
I guess I would need the stock shimms ?

BEL - 5954 from Summit Racing.

Beltech drop leafs are 3" drop for a regular S10/Sonoma/Jimmy... so thats a 2" drop on a SyTy.

I know of people who have used the Beltechs without the shims and have no problems.

Re: Lowering....

Here's my recent experience with the "whole" lower'n thang...

on a scale of 1-10...10 begin extremely harsh...

note..i have not ridden in a Sy with OEM suspension so my numbers are probably skewed and just my observations. also, for the most part, on smooth roads the ride is not as bad. It's the railroad tracks and sudden bumps that REALLY jar the kidneys :)

stock leafs with 2" blocks....7

beltechs with no blocks....4-5

beltechs with 2" blocks.....8-9

beltechs with 1" blocks....6-7
