To the auto body shop!

Since I bought my TY I knew it had some rust but not too bad. The major areas are the two body mounts right behind the front tires. It rusted up through my floor pan on the drivers side. So since January it has been an even more bumpier ride due to the fact that my frame/body mounts were pretty much absorbing and flexing everytime I would hit a bump. It got to a point where I can feel the mound of metal with my foot through the carpet. I'm bringing it in today to this place http://www.kreationsautobody.com/ . They do excellant work and for a very reasonable price for what I'm getting done. They're going to custom make new floor pans for drivers and passenger side, custom make new body mount plates and weld it all up. Also all the smaller stuff, detach rocker panels (rocker cladding) pull back carpet and move all the small stuff for the plasma cutter. Then undercoat those areas so there will never be anymore problems and re-install everything. I have pictures of what is going to get done, but photobucket.com doesn't seem to be working right now. I'll post pics of before soon and some after shots when I get it back on friday or saturday. Check out their site though, they've done up some badass cars!

Yeah my drivers side is wayyyy worse then the passenger side. You'll see in the pics whenever photobucket starts working...lol...Actually the passenger side would have been fine, but some previous owner drilled a hole and ran speaker wire under the car to the back.

Here are some before shots. First two are the drivers side, second two are the passenger side. ( The wires going through the floor on the passenger side, I later pull right out and they're cut and haven't been used for a long time..GRRR...previous owner) Why run speaker wires under a car on the east coast?

Yeah, it's pretty bad. The pictures are really dramatic also though because it's close up. Notice the size of the speaker wires also...lol... They're taking a plasma cutter and cutting out the drivers side floor board and a nice size square on the passenger side. Then bending some new sheetmetal to match the original. They're also cutting off the mounting plate completely and fab'ing a stronger one and putting new bushings in. Hopefully it will turn out nice. They do good work, so I have no doubts. After this is done I should be good to go. Theres like a couple of very small spots on the body but I'm going to take care of that myself. I'll also be gradually sanding down and coating my frame little by little.(Whenever I have time)

I'm glad that I got mine from Calf. clean as a whistle no rust at all. :D
I tried...I tried......I bought it in Southern Calf. but it came from the east coast. Came over here in like 2000-2001? So it spent most of it's life over there :(

Looks like I should be picking it up tomorrow. I thought yesterday, but they don't seem to answer the phone on saturdays :dunno: Strictly work on saturdays I guess.

Re: To the auto body shop!

Well, I got it back today! It rides wayyyy better!!! They did a good job and the welds are pretty good considering they had to weld it upside down. I'll post up some pics tomorrow I had no time to take some today. Right when I left the shop my TY was popping and falling on it's face. Immediatly I look at the boost gauge and sure enough, it's overboosting bad. So I took it slow all the way to work and popped the hood and sure enough the vacuum line on the wastegate is disconnected. I don't know if those usually blow off by them selves or if they disconnected it :dunno: What is something good to use to keep it on there? I have a small zip-tie on there now.

Congrats man! Glad everything (minus overboosting) is working well on the truck now.

Re: To the auto body shop!

Here are the after pics that I said I'd post. I'm very pleased with how it turned out. The drivers side floor board has that stupid composite insulator stuff stuck to it, that's why it looks different.

Damn, looks like they took care of that rather nicely. Looking at all the rust you had before, I can imagine it feels a lot better.

Re: To the auto body shop!

Yeah, it's a better piece of mind too. Not to mention I feel better about my body not dropping onto the frame now...lol... I plan on keeping and re-doing the entire TY for the rest of my life....(hopefully) So getting this out of the way helped out a lot. Now I just have like 3 quarter sized spots on the body (door, and under each tailight) and it should all be taken care of. Might just do those myself.
