I posted this on a s10 forum and didnt get much responce. They sent me over here so here it goes-
I bought a 67 opel kadett with a 4.3 out of a ty. He took off the turbo- bumped the compression to 11.5 to1 and put vortec heads on it. Got rid of all the injection and carbed it with an hei. It makes decent power now but i hate nitrous cause you always have to fill it and its not around all the time. I purchased a twin turbo set-up off a guy in sacramento and I wanna get the combe together before i tear this thing down and know what im getting myself into.
I wanna stick to the blow through carb set-up and keep it as budget as possible- But i dont want to scatter the motor. I dont mind spending the money where i need to. I was told the motor that the turbo set-up came off of made 720 to the flywheel. Dont know anything about the heads or the bottom end of that motor so that is why im here.
What kind of bottom end do i need? the guys on the other firum were saying run a stock cryoed crank? I have a feeling thats not enough. Are there any shops in the northern california area that have made big power with a 4.3? Thanks
Heres some shots of the opel and the the turbo set-up
head flow numbers
there is the sleeper
