gilbert and shift bracket

How do I modify the bracket for clearance issues. I dont have acces to a welder. Thanks

bend it with a tire iron.Just put it between the bracket and the shaft,and bend it down.

I thought of that and read it somewhere on here but I dont want to mess up the trans. Thanks. How much clearance do I need?

You wont hurt it, it really doesnt need that much bending. Worst case scenario (like mine) is you'll have to adjust the linkage so that you still get every gear, and it the indicator (P-R-N-OD-D-2-1) still lines up. :)

My indicator is in the right place, but it definitely doesn't point to the right gears :rotf: Mine wanted a little bit more than 1/4" so I ended up having to weld it, but I have a special case. Just try and make sure to keep the angle between the two halves of the linkage the same :2cents:
