Guys, for about a year my stock leather Syclone steering wheel has been oozing some nasty tan goo. It is as if the glue/bonder inside the wheel, has suddenly broken down. It only oozes when it is warm and humid out, and the hotter it is, the more it oozes. It wasn't that bad when I put the truck away in fall, but when I picked my truck up out of storage, it had oozed down the wheel and onto the seat ruining the fabric as I couldn't get it out. I took it to a body shop and they were able to apply something to get it out completely.
Now every time it gets hot, I have to "scrape" the ooze off the wheel. The weird part is that the wheel doesn't seem to be getting any thinner, despite a significant amount of ooze being squeezed out over this summer. The wheel is soft when it's hot.
Has anyone seen this? I have a friend who runs an auto upholstery shop but when I talked to him about it, he had no idea. I like the stock wheel a lot, so I've ordered a brand new one (pricey) but was hoping to learn what made this one fail.
