Another one of my odd problems

About 2-3 weeks ago roughly a week or so after I got my truck running tits again, I was on my way to Home Depot to buy a few things. I hit a pothole I think and it hit so hard it felt like someone rear ended me. Immediately, the tach started going crazy and I floored it and it just popped and exploded black smoke everywhere. I limped it in to a gas station and looked under the hood. Everything looked fine. The truck died and wouldnt start. I waited about 2 minutes and it fired right up. Never skipped a beat after that. Until a few days later. Didnt hit a hole bump or anything. Now it just randomly deos this for no apparent reason. It does seem like its usually hot out when it happens but its getting really annoying. Im pretty sure its not the ICM beacause I ve switched back and forth from 2 new ones and I still have the same results. Any thgouhts here?

Check your grounds, from the battery cable to the battery on back to the engine and body. Take them apart and clean them, even if they look good.

Is it your normal response to floor the gas when you clearly have a serious malfunction in progress? One of the early wisdoms of these trucks, from 'way back in the email list days, and which has saved my bacon at least once:
If you hear ANYTHING out of the ordinary, get off the gas IMMEDIATELY.

It depends. Sine I saw a big puff of black smoke, I figured it was running awfully rich for that moment so I thought Ild see if I could blow it all out. Im an abuser I admit it. So anyway, I checked all the grounds and they are all just fine. The motor was out Mar-Apr. I double checked them all and they look good.

chip sounds like it dislocated itself have you reseated the PROM?

Yes, I actually re-located the ECM into the glove box about a week before this happend. I checked it immediately and ti was in there just fine.

did you tug and pull real hard to relocate the ecm? if so i wouldn't be surprised if you got a pin loose on the board

Have you run any scanning tools on it? While it's going nuts?

I did tug on it. Gonna take it out today and inspect it.

Havent run a scan on it at that time. Ild have to have it on all the time. Mike is probably right. Gonna start by checking all the pins.

Did some more playing nad yestruday, I got home and it started doing it and I quickly stopped and opened the glove box. When I let the door down the the tach jumped. I did it like 20 times and same thing. I wiggled the wiring harnesses and nothing. I noticed the chip was fully seated and double checked it and it was good to go. I dropped the door a few more times and it stopped. Hasent done it since. Im probably going to rerun the harness to make it an easier move and if it happens again I may get a new ECM.

I would suspect the harness instead of the ecm

My truck did this shit to me last week. I drove to Adams house to pick up my block, drove all the way back and it ran perfect. The next day I go to hop in it and let a chick friend of mine drive (damn near the only person I will ever let drive my truck,) and my tach started going nuts, and I couldnt build boost over 8lbs and I was going super rich on my WB also..

So, if you figure out what the problem is before I get a chance to work on my truck, let me know please!
